Good stuff. Subbed. Nothing wrong with staying in a hostel. You earned it. When you start doing European high routes there's loads of times when a refuge is the only sensible option. Also, occasionally treating yourself to a nice hotel and checking out local towns is totally part of long distance wildcamping too! 😂

Ok, I’m weird but “Hello there” always seems super creepy to me! It’s true that the folks up north tend to default to friendly with strangers - that was my biggest culture shock moving to London. Loved this one.

The illustration I always use when talking about this is what happens if you’re carrying a load of shopping, the bag splits and the contents piss out all over the pavement. Up north, people will crowd round to help pick it all up, someone will rummage around to see if they have a spare bag etc. In London, people will tut at you for getting in their way or steal things.
