So I watched the jungle episode (more like movies from this guy), then Snake River, and now I am watching the solo island movie. First off, I have to say how much I appreciate the sheer effort that goes into your filmmaking. It's easy to forget that for every mile we see you traverse on screen, you've likely covered much more ground setting up and retrieving those cameras. The logistics of managing all that gear in such challenging environments must be immense. So thank you, for your dedication to capturing these incredible journeys. Second, thank you! Thank you for allowing me to see the Snake River through your storytelling. I will never see the Snake River in person and never knew about it until I got to experience it with you. So, for someone that is almost 3,000 miles from where you were, I want to sincerely thank you for what you did and allowing me to experience it with you. It was a privilege to witness it all with you. Third, I was really sad that when you got to Taco Bar, there was not an actual bar that served Tacos! I would consider going on a trip like that if I knew I could get to a place called Taco Bar so that I could replenish all the calories spent on that trip. Oh, and I got a great laugh at the 1:15:44 timestamp. Thank you for sharing your passion and your adventures with the world. Your films are an inspiration.

This video should win an award. The way it shows every aspect of his journey from food, tent, to sleep, to hikes, to kanooing, to wildlife with a big zoom to real talk to filming talent just the details and effort and how much value this video brings is amazing. This video alone would be a 5-10 series season of a netflix show or youtube format in germany where people copy everything from the US or CA. The differents of quality not just the video quality just in total is so big to other creators its crazy.

I'm also a recovering addict, sort of in the stuck going nowhere part right now. There's a lot of excuses why, like car being unrecoverable and being relatively broke. It's like I'm surviving, but I'm not in the wilderness. The hardest part about being a recovering addict for me, is to stop surviving and live. Thanks for these videos, stay safe.

Who would pay for therapy when your videos offer so much insight? It feels a bit silly! I just want to say how incredibly inspiring you are. Your content makes my routine feel pretty boring-wake up, go to college, hit the gym, study, then scroll on my phone. You've really changed my perspective on life. epic man. rest in peace to your grandad. you're an absolute legend. i'm from scotland and have done multi week treks/survival things but wow the expanse of canada is something else. amazing work and so inspirational. we are probably about the same age. you're making me dream of getting back out there again after a seriously difficult few years and at a head right now mentally. im just pretty scared of death but don't know how to live or what direction to go at 31 after a decade of mental health hospitals with severe depression/ptsd/ocd then drug addiction and trying to stay clean, being homeless, abusive partner. its been a whirlwind. as i said ive do similar things for the same reason. i felt like i was living through you in this one but it brought back to me what i actually i can make possible for myself. thankyou. its a long rod for me but im gonna start looking forward, saving a bit of cash, getting new gear again and plan to do something in the summer 4/5/6 months from now here in scotland maybe even into europe for me this time. god knows. what i do know is i cant sit around here and think about death any longer in whatever way, dying, being ill, whatever. thanks again.

Best, THE BEST Outdoor/ Survival VIDEO, I have seen in a long while. Also, the mood of the video, the impressions, the images, the thoughts, and the comments, are simply spectacular and so entertaining. 2 hour videos are typically too long, but THIS VIDEO could have gone on for another 2 hours! So well done!

Pitching your tent at the top of the mountain made me think of the opening lyrics from Telegraph Road by Dire Straits: A long time ago came a man on a track Walking thirty miles with a sack on his back And he put down his load where he thought it was the best He made a home in the wilderness Great story Xander.

Definitely my favorite video from you Xander. Love the camera and drone cinematography, especially through the rapids and the mountains. I honestly just realized how much work it would take to set up all these angles beforehand! Amazing video, keep up the great work,

Just the effort that might have been walking with the canoe, taking it down to set up the camera to record 2 seconds, picking it up again, and so on, deserves the like. Keep the effort sir!

Family and I were playing at the camping trip several years back. My grandmother was in the hospital but she was doing fairly well. She had insisted on seeing the grandkids before we left though. We visited for several hours and had a great time with her. She just insisted that we go camping for her. The first night out everything went well. We were cooking supper the next night when the phone rang and it was my dad. My grandmother had passed away while we were camping doing something that she loves so much. It just so happened that we were cooking dinner and my great-grandfather her dad's Dutch oven at the time. I think she knew. What an honor.

Your channel started out as a way for me to watch camping/backpacking when I wasn't able to do my own trips, but over the last year or so it's really become more of a mental health checkpoint. Your seemingly random (to us, but I'm sure there's more to it for you) bouts of serious self-reflection throughout your longer videos recently have served as a notion to myself to do introspection. It's funny, sometimes it's way easier to survive in the wilderness than it is to survive in society. If you come to Colorado I'm more than happy to give you coordinates to quiet places.

Hello fellow Coloradan :) the purpose of my trips *is* the introspection. Something about being in nature just brings it on naturally. Especially out on the water. I'd love to do a big paddling trip like he does someday.
