Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail Guide

I just hiked this today, wish I had watched this first as I just stayed on the main trail. I’m glad I kept going as the waterfall was worth it! Next time I will take the side trails. 5 1/2 miles was a bit for this old lady, but I made it! I’m glad I found this as it’s only a few miles from my mom’s house. She couldn’t believe the pics! I’ll check out more of your videos before I go on more hikes. TY!

I have hiked down in Los Penasquitos Canyon 4 to 5 times so far. I discovered it about 5 years ago. I have done your hike here twice almost exactly. There are too many good points about this place to mention here. I plan on doing this canyon several more times in my life and the muncipalities down in San Diego area have done a wonderful job of keeping and developing green zones throughout their areas and citizens do and should support these kind of efforts. Thank you Cris for doing this one, great job and I hope others enjoy it as I have and will have in the future!

That's great to hear, and I agree, it's a real treasure. I've done it about a dozen times over the years and really enjoy it every time. I always see lots of raptors and wildlife. Really a great spot. 👍

Nice video. This was my go-to trail run when I was stationed at Miramar in the late 90s. Thanks for bringing back good memories. Miramar is a Marine Corps Air Station btw.

There’s plenty of free parking around the canyon. The only people who need to pay are the people who bring their horses.
