*Love this **MyBest.Tools** have the original dremel oscillating tool but it's corded which is fine in many instances but this is so versatile. Must have for any tool monger like me.*

well done Roger for the 'Burglar' line. Humor like that Reminds me why I can't be bothered to get a telly.

Whichever tool has the easiest blade change is my favorite

A pretty good run down of his room Roger. Agree you, it’s not their best tool, and yeah there’s probably better tools out there. But for me (on this platform), it’s a great tool. You do get used to their lock mechanism though, and actually it’s pretty quick to get used too. Shame it’s not The new Fein/Bosch type, but I’m coming from a corded FEIN multi master with pin and lever, so it’s pretty much the same way. Looking forward to their 12V version.

Thought this would finally be my chance to try Hikoki out 😢 Dewalt seems to own this niche atm.

I bought one of these a few months back, and like most of the new Hikoki tools, Its a great tool with a few annoying flaws! The blade change is the most annoying when you first use it. I forgot that when you release the collar the blade and the pin will fall off. It took me half an hour with a magnet to find the pin in the floor void! I have painted it yellow now for next time it happens. Otherwise it has plenty of power and I use it constantly.

Agreed, I like the power, (mines branded Hitachi) but not the faff of the blade change, thanks for tip about painting the pin, nice one.

Also the rubber on the locking ring might rub in a tight corner and the pin fall out. I found mine on the scaffolding one level down thankfully. I've since removed the rubber and installed a small o-ring on the shaft where there is a grove. It has not fallen out since. Worst blade lock ever designed.

I know the nail cutting footage is coming in these videos, but it still makes me wince seeing that blade ploughing into those nails. I suppose if you're already on the Hikoki platform you'll have to take the rough will the smooth with this one. Cheers.

Another good honest review. I totally agree the locking mechanism for the bits is a let down. You might as well have a screw and Allen key. I do like the idea of the automatic speed change, I can see that being very useful.

The blade change is a bit like the early Fein but more complicated so best of luck if you choose this machine

One of the biggest problems with all multitools is vibration. One should keep a record of how much they use the multitool because extended use could lead to hand damage problems

I'm sure the health dangers are in the accompanying paperwork which most blokes just throw to one side. Definitely limit the use. Maybe even good gloves may help reduce the impact.

Off topic a bit, but while these reviews for particular types of tools, saws, drills, routers etc by all the different manufacturers are good in their own way, most people are just going to stick with whatever battery/charger platform they already have. In which case the move to a 40v system by Makita, if it means that the 18v range is becoming obsolescent, must be a concern, especially if other manufacturers go down the same route. So how about an overview of what is likely to happen with battery platforms over the next couple of years?

I think with any cordless device the actual method of physical changing either multitool blade, drill bit or jigsaw blade should be as easy as swapping out a battery, nothing more. I agree Roger on the faffing about with blade changes, this one looks the worst so far. For me I like simplicity, pull a lever & blade is gone & changed. Job done with no bits to lose. As always a highly enjoyable video, thanks for all the hard work 👍🏻

The blade change on this is about as intuitive as the blade change on the DeWALT track/plunge saw.

What road bike have you got Roger heard you mention you are into cycling
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 3 жыл бұрын
Ha! You presume I have just the one. I don't know anyone who is into cycling who has just the one bike but, having said that, I am not out of control. Both my sons have more bikes than me. So to answer your question, after which I will delete the string for fear of thieves, I have a Dolan carbon frame which I built up with Campag group set and Campag wheels. I also have a steel framed 531 tourer which is a very comfortable bike for a long ride but is heavy by modern standards. I bought it with the intention of taking off around the world but that seems to be a remote possibility now. I also have a titanium bike which I gifted to my son but he never rides it so I might reclaim it. The titanium is a Raleigh Special Projects and I think it is quite rare. Again that is a nice comfortable frame.

@@SkillBuilder very nice collection you have there. I have had to stop myself from buying a bike for every occasion it’s starting to get very expensive when I add up over the years! What a brilliant sport though. Addicted for life!
