Colin, (I spelt that Colon to start with 🤣) I am glad that you got the right diagnosis in the end and that you were strong enough to make the decision to find out through non NHS routes. Our friend has just lost her friend to cancer. She had been complaining of persistent ill health and pain in her back (that she said was not typical back pain) for a couple of years and was dismissed in exactly the same way you were and told to see a physio. In the end she went private and was scanned, they found cancer, that had spread to her liver, spine and lungs. It had gone so far, that they couldn't tell the origin at that stage, and within three months she was gone. These cases need highlighting and speaking about it is the right thing. I hope you are both coping ok. x

I really empathised with you today. I have Spinal stenosis in my Lumber and Cervical vertebrae. I have been getting worse for 30 years. I now have Small Fibre Neuropathy caused by my spine putting pressure on my Spinal cord. I can do very little now. Walking is desperately painful painful as is using my hands . It feels as though I have razor blades sticking in my hands and feet so even the lightest touch is agony. I have been refused surgery as it is now too dangerous for me. So get your spine sorted now before it gets any worse. I really hope you can get well again, my thoughts are with you. ❤XX

I am so livid on your behalf Colin! Please speak to a solicitor asap. They can help you get the evidence you need together. These grossly incompetent "doctors" need to be dealt with so they are not threatening the health of others. They need to be shut down... I have so many horror stories of the NHS from my British ex-husband and his family that I would never use them if I had moved over there as originally planned. We admittedly have health care issues here in the US, & major other problems after this weeks election, but I am very grateful for the excellent medical benefits I get through my job's compensation package here in California. Sending you major healing Love & Light that all will be well and you will be fully healed soon! 🙏🙌🫶🙌🙏

Oh my heart goes out to you Colin for all that your going thru.... it's gobsmacking mindboggling how some 'gp's' or 'specialists' who call themselves doctors and get away with this not only physical but also mental abuse dismissing you and others without properly investigating why you've got the pain - oh wow can't wait for the time when your health is stable that you sock it to them with style that they have stuffed up majorily and aren't going to get away with fobbing you off so easily. And so they should be shaking in the boots. It is getting up my nose how they think it was all right. I hope you are changing gp eventually once all the paperwork is at hand. I am so sorry for what your careless doctors put you through, and you are so right about doctor PTSD! Here in the US we have problems, too. I developed a pain syndrome - I mean 24/7 I was agony in many parts of my body, and then I developed some kind of burning in my skin. Touch me in certain places, my shoulder, all of the inside of my legs and more, and I was in more agony. I was 61 at the time and had never had pain meds. I have never done a recreational drug, but I needed help as I don't have anyone to take care of me. But the minute I said "pain," they thought I wanted narcotics. I went to an orthopedist as I was having unbearable joint pains that never let up. My legs also became very weak and I fell down about eight wooden stairs and scraped off much of the skin above my elbow on the concrete below. He actually smirked at me. Then on the way to see him again I collapsed in front of his office, literally, I stepped up on the curb and my legs just gave out, and I couldn't get up. When an intern of some sort finally got me in a wheelchair and I went in to my appointment, he again just smirked and said, "I understand you fell in front of the building." He showed no sympathy. He thought I was faking it in my desperation to get a pain med. I had an even worse experience with heart doctors for my atrial fibrillation/irregularity, and I got so gun shy I put off going to the doctor as it made me feel so horrible and I dreaded how they would act. A neurologist finally helped me and found a med that would help. Also gave me strong narcotics, but I only took two of them. Doctors need to give you the benefit of the doubt! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers for your upcoming issues, and I hope you can sue the pants off those that paid no heed to your issues!

I haven’t actually seen my Doctor once since moving to Inverness 10 years ago. Thankfully having worked offshore and in catering I had to have my offshore medical every two years, it’s quite invasive looking at your whole body and general health, which is a good thing. The amount of times other people offshore have found things at an early stage during their medicals must have saved many, many lives. I really think everyone should have something like an offshore medical every few years, not only to save lives but would save the NHS money on the long term. It’s so nice seeing Colin looking so much better and more comfortable

Colin, you're looking so very much more energetic and alive - it's so great to see! You look about 20 years younger at the start of the vlog! Stupid question perhaps - is there any way to change your GP? You asked about waking up from anaesthetic - I woke during a procedure and the young bloke in the room mentioned it to the anesthesiologist, who said (paraphrased from the german) "nah, it's fine". The young bloke linked eyes with me, freaked out, said again that I was awake in a much more panicked voice and this time both surgeon and anesthesiologist shut him down. Hearing that, I figured it was ok to be awake and started jauntily asking questions about what I was seeing on the scope (ie. the insides of my intestines). That got the anesthesiologist moving! He immediately took action to put me back under, none of my questions were answered. Glad they had a monitor, pity they didn't listen to him, twice.

I so feel for both of you. You asked about coming out of the anesthetic. When I was 18 I had my tonsils out. Late night I had to use the toilet. My bed felt like it was a swing going from the headboard to the foot end. I had to wait three times for my bed to be in correct spot, so I could grab my slippers. I finally got them on the third try! Very interesting Colin and I'm sure help to many. A wee story about me. I was in the recovery room after a minor op. Not expected to wake up for a while. 2 nurses were having a good old gossip about a party they had been to. I heard it all because I was already awake. I pretended to still be out until I couldn't stand it any more and sat up and said that was a good story - the look on their faces was so funny. Luckily the anesthetic hadn't knocked me at all. Good luck with the future medical processes.

Thank you for the video and the focus on health speak -and how important it is we, especially men, talk about it. My wife is a nurse - 40 plus years, I ride a blood bike for the NHS, we regard the service as a very precious thing and certainly my wife is dedicated to the NHS. However from the experiences you've had it seems you've been very unlucky in being exposed to some terrible pre judgements from professionals who are acting well outside of what anyone would expect. Hopefully you have the required evident to hold those individuals to account as that should be done - but not at the expense of your mental or physical health, you need to be mentally and physically as fit as possible to enable the next and hopefully final stage of diagnosis and treatment to come and go to give you a clear path to enjoy your life. I'll order some Honey as I applaud your approach to supporting the bees and I've enjoyed the Bee content ( and your other content over the years) and if it helps stabilise your finances even a little then that's good. Finally I did proper LOL about the crying and muted TV, a great ( not for you) story. Take care gents

I can tell you a positive ending story about lung cancer. My mum was diagnosed and had to have her lung removed. The surgeon said it was so full of cancer she wouldn't have been getting any benefit from it. The positive bit? No spread. None at all. Not a single cancer cell had left the lung. She had the lung out and that was that. No chemo, no radiation therapy. She just got on with life. Fingers crossed the lump hasn't grown and is benign.

I went round 5 gp's complaining about my knee started the round again, got to the third one for the second time, got shouted at. Told in no uncertain terms that he would send me to a consultant to shut me up and I was to never mention my knee again! Three weeks later I had surgery to remove a chip of bone an inch long and half an inch thick that was trapped under the patella. It took 5 years of complaining to get a result. (The gp did have the grace to apologise two weeks after the surgery). It took 3 years and a demand from me to be referred to a military hospital for a second opinion to get surgery on my spine. Fusion worked brilliantly and I was up the pub the same day I was discharged. 😊 Good luck with yours Colin, if it comes to having the fusion go for it with a positive mind x

I watched till the end, glad you are getting answers, though expensive. On lighter note, as we age and get wrinkles, we also get worse vision close up. The closer hubby gets the bigger the smile as we both look like our eyes have that Vaseline gauze filter and we look amazing. Reading glasses checked at the bedroom door lol.

Oh guys, I feel for you, Im so glad you finally have that one piece of the jigsaw sorted. I hope the other two get sorted too. I've been through similar, 20 years ago at 40 I started with severe back pain. Doctors just gave me physio and pain killers. Within a year I couldn't sit, stand, lie down without unbelievable pain, legs were numb and again didn't offer a scan or anything like that. Then the incontinence signs started and I had to just stop working. I went to a private doctor who immediately did test and a scan and my L4/5 disc had completely collapsed and was pressing on my spinal chord badly. He said it was a bad case and he would operate ASAP. I actually got a new op, a prosthetic rubber and metal disc put in joining but not fusion the two vertebrae. 2 years following I was still in pain. The NHS referred me to a pain clinic where yiu just sit around and talk about your pain, which did nothing for me. I went back to the private doctor and they did a number of nerve ablations, which finally worked, and bar the odd grumbling back pain when I've been lazy and not held proper posture, all is well. I will be looking at your shop to see what I can get to help out. All the best to you both and we look forward to seeing what this tour malarkey will be about! Cheers.👍

My sister-in-law had spinal stenosis surgery at an outpatient clinic. She went into the surgery wheelchair bound and walked out a couple of hours later. They removed cord bone to stop it pressing on her nerve bundle. I was blown away that she walked out and her agony was gone.

I've had a similar experience with the NHS. You can't get what you need or be referred for investigations unless its cancer or a simple blood test shows it up which it of course doesn't. Please do follow through when you're better. Autistic solidarity and all.

I've had blood tests recently that have come back clear. I've been so tired, pains in various areas and feeling unwell in general, but of course because the bloods were ok, apparently I'm fine and don't need any further tests, meanwhile I still feel absolutely crap.

I don't seem to get notifications when your going live but I managed to start watching this week's live and the connection was lost so still ended up missing half an hour but what I did end up watching was hilarious, you guys are so funny and reading the live chat I am not the only one who thinks like that. Shaun can I ask - will you be able to make lemon and lime marmalade as its the only marmalade I like. I just want to thank you both for making me feel better and cheering me up as I had oral surgery on Friday and feeling quite bruised so needed an injection of laughter. Love to you both have a great week xx

Lovely to see a smile back on your face, despite the trials! I too am a victim of nhs neglect and omission. Wasn't listened to, told I was exaggerating my symptoms. Having moved house, finally got a consultant who is sympathetic and LISTENS. They have found pulmonary nodules in my lungs on CT scan - one is "Suspicious". Next CT scan later this month is the crunch one to see if there has been any change. 90% of these lung beasties are harmless. My way of dealing with it has been to tell my brain that ' at the moment it is JUST a nodule.....until my consultant tells me otherwise." But I totally empathise with your situation. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Weather The Storm. Xxxx

I have seen enough of my own surgeries to know. So nice to see you looking a bit healthier and happier. Take it easy though and be careful Colin. It is rather warm and weird weather be careful about that as well you don't want to end up sick. You have some very kind and generous comment donors :) HUGS to you both :)

Your GP should be the first door to open on the way to health. BUT sometimes that door is jammed shut. Someone I know was really suffering with a lot of lower back & pelvic pain, their GP was saying "Can't do anything yet, but in a few months we'll give you injections etc.". They moved to be nearer their children & grandchildren, went to register with their new GP, who took one look at them as they staggered into the consulting room "Hm, your hips are in a bad way, let's get x-rays to see just how bad". Off to hospital to see a consultant, again "Hmm, wrecked hips", x-rays NOW, an hour later and the consultant is saying "We need to do both hips, so well do this one first, then in 6-9 months we'll do the other one, let's see when I can do the first one - how does a week's time sound?" Within a year both hips had been replaced, and while not able to run a marathon they were walking up and down hills, pain free.

Good luck on your journey with your back and the lung issue is ok . 🇦🇺💜💕

I had an operation about three years ago that - like you - lasted longer than predicted. When I came around in the recovery room, I was convinced that I needed a pee, in spite of being, erm, temporarily plumbed in to a disposal facility 😊. I was so convinced about this that I tried to climb off the trolley in the recovery room, and had an argument with the porter and for several minutes I wouldn't be told to stay still. Common sense soon returned and I made fulsome apologies all round but I still cringe when I think of it...... I hope that you're able to resolve the other issues without too much trouble and that you can get closure on the (mis) treatment you received along the way.

It took 15 years for the nhs to diagnose me with a form of inflammatory arthritis. It was a switched on GP during covid over a telephone consultation that joined the dots together and started the ball rolling and even then it took months to get the final diagnosis and more importantly- treatment to halt any further damage to my joints, although nothing can be done about the damage done in all the years previous. I get severe anxiety with any medical appointments now, that fear of being dismissed and of being made to feel you’re going mad because the pain is real but no one believes you hasn’t gone away. Anyway, glad you are on the road to recovery from your surgery, sad there’s still so many question marks and I’ll be buying some honey.

Sorry you've had to go through this. Colin, this is very similar to what happened to me - an employer wanted to find a reason to cut me loose due to above average sick time. I got lucky, and the doctors vindicated my position. This was before vaccines for pneumonia. I've had 12 cases since my time in the military during the Vietnam conflict, and do not look forward to number 13. Fortunately, the vaccines seem to have worked. I am spinning the prayer wheels up to maximum velocity for your upcoming scan - my sister had a tumor removed a few days ago in approximately the same area. We'll get the results back in a few days. I am hoping for good news in both cases. Keep on boys!
