The dude in the brown jacket doubted him, lmao. That’s why, as son as that engine cranked up he walked his ass off and the guy in the sweater got to smiling. He was getting ready to talk BIG shit and they all knew it 😂😂😂. If you’ve grown up in a small town, this is pretty standard. I guarantee you it started like this, “Man throw that old bullshit engine away, fawnky MF ain’t worth the time.” And that’s all cigarette man needed as motivation.

When I was a young soldier at Ft. Bragg North Carolina I had a 1968 mustang. A army buddy and I we were out cruising around way out in the country. Doing a few burn outs here and there. Just doing what young men do and my mustang quit running and we had no tools. This was back around 1984 so no cell phones. We got out and started walking we came to a garage it had about a half dozen old black men working on a old 66 Chevy impala. Then about 20 or 30 bikers showed up on crotch rockets. We thought we were gonna get our asses kicked. Those old men went with a wrecker and got my car and fixed it. I tried to pay but he wouldn't take my money. They all thanked us for serving our country. They had a engine in that impala that sounded just like that. They told us to come to the cumberland county raceway saturday and we could see it run. I saw it race three times and it won everytime.

@Odin Thothdiesels sounds like someone left a toolbag inside of them. Nothing sounds as balanced as an I6 or v12. An In-line 4 gets that tone after 6-7k when on the 1-4-2-3 order. V-8s are great. So are v10s but only when pushed to higher limits of revs. Those v10s in the 2000’s Formula 1 were spinning 19k and screamed like a banshee. But if you dig diesels check out the pre war Grand Prix cars.

My dad and I fixed cars for a living for about 5 years, when you get to put an engine together, no matter how many things you double check, you still get a small twinge in your gut before you fire it up, yet at that moment you are so happy just to have made it that far. I love that mechanic because you can tell he knows what he's doing NO DOUBT AT ALL. And you can ask hundreds and thousands of folks if they can do that, guess what, most folks can't check their own oil much less dig into the guts of an engine and make it come alive, there's no faking that kind of talent, so cool 😎

Or vice versa. The colonials were very regal and proper with classical styles of music, waltzes and ballets, until their children encountered black culture from those in and directly after slavery. Then came - Country Talk (from diaspora Africans trying to speak English with imperfections and with an African swag ("Ain't y'all saddle dem horses yet), as early settlers spoke proper British English. - Square dancing (ancient African tradition called buck dancing) which became square dancing to some and passed down as doing the hustle or hustling in Detroit or electric slide out West, still as line dancing today in African tribes. - Flipping guns, cow boys (then was a deragatory term for those hired to handle cows and hog tie wild bores, before the n word, "boy" was the term used. Stories of shooting the ropes hanging their partners during public lynchings, flipping guns and howling (called ululating was a tribal war cry) are recorded, but why such were called rebels, wanted, and needed to be lone rangers with no one to ride with but native Americans isn't talked about but well documented. - Country Music (original dixie land and blues had the exact sounds of original country, but predated it, so the same that happened with rock, house becoming techno and hip-hop it became accepted by the next generation after hearing it). ...almost forgotten, but well documented history.
