After my grandson turned about 3 or 4 I shaved my beard off. Before that he was very loving and liked to hug. When he saw me got scared and he stayed scared giving me that scared look kids get sometimes. Later on I grew it back. It didn't matter. He stayed scared until he turned about 6 or 7. We're good buddies now.

Beard does slow down aging in areas it covers because almost all UV radiation from sun that can get to Earth's surface gets trapped in beard. Because it does that it also prevents you from getting skin cancer in those same areas.

99% of beard removals started with us just trying to trim it up a little. We get a little uneven on one side, try to match it with the other side, then we just start chasing it and end up something awful. I had 5 months of quarantine growth recently. I was trimming it up with a very large guard on my clippers. I took the guard off and did the edges. I decided to do one more pass with the guard but I was in the middle of talking to a friend of mine that I forgot to put the guard on and shaved a strip right down the side of my face. I went ahead and shaved it all off and it looked like I took my jaw off.

I'm 55 and I've had a beard for the last 15 years. I've dyed my beard light brown for most of those years because my natural beard is white. I recently stopped dying it. When I went to an event with people who had never seen my beard undyed before they oohed and ahhed that I had grown a beard.
