I turned 30 in 2022 and this song brings me so much nostalgia, sadness and happiness all at the same time. I was 12 when this song came out. I was so young, and had so much excitement for life. I remember being excited to grow up and be like Hilary duff, or excited to be a cool teenager who had a cool life. Looking back I had good teen years and 20s but growing up means not being as naive anymore, and not seeing the world in the same excited keen-eyed lens. I’m more bruised with sad experiences and taxes to pay lol. This song really makes me want to “go back to the beginning”, when ignorance was bliss, when I was excited to grow up, when I was less bruised and more keen for everything!

Sammy Sabo High school was shitty, adulthood is hard at times but I’m emotionally in a much better place. I have zero memory of ever commenting this, but looking back on the past 7 years so much has changed. I’m definitely not where I thought I’d be now when I was 14, hell I’m not where I thought I’d be a year ago. I started high school in a city where I knew no one, had to start over again and I was severely depressed and anxious throughout all of high school and the vast majority of middle school. Overall once I pushed through those years I finally started branching out after high school graduation. I love where I’m at in life now even though I’d change a lot of things. But I think it’s safe to say I’m happy, took me a while but I got there.
