I actually heard this years ago and I had goosebumps. But i never remembered her name (only remembered 'epic violinist in a purple dress'). When i saw her on TwoSet, i thought she looked really familiar then searched for this again on YT. I cant tell you how mindblown i was to find out that it was in fact Hilary Hahn who played this. Im not a classical musician but man, to give goosebumps to an unpracticed ear is living proof that she is so skilled at her instrument.

I love how she just walks on stage, adjusts her chin rest for like half a second and then immediately starts playing. No one last moment concentration or deep breathing or even physical preparation, just already being in the zone and starting the music like it is the easiest piece in the world. And THEN executing it so masterfully. How on earth.

@MrYarmulke 2 жыл бұрын
@@dungeoncat5238 pag caps 4 and 8 are harder, the middle variations in 12, most of the ernst etudes like your erlkonig or last rose etc. But those difficulties are sorta artificial. You'll get the same difficulty taking any piano sheet music and playing it on the violin. On the other hand, 24 is a gold standard. It might not be the hardest, but it's widely accepted to be the song you bust out after class, by the storage racks, to flex on the clown who chair tested behind you and let him know not to waste his time with a seat challenge, but more importantly, not to waste your time because you have tests to study for and video games to play.

How incredible is it that we live in an age where any violinist could take a measly 30 seconds of their time and literally have Paganini's, a most-revered musician and secretive person, sheet music right in their hands instantly. In most other time periods it would've been virtually impossible to get the sheet music for something like this, let alone having a lot of people who were able to play it anyway. If there is one good thing about the internet, it's that we musicians have a ton of access to anything we could ever desire to play. That is a relatively new concept, and I imagine that the ubiquitous exposure to this music for all modern day musicians will only be able to take it higher than the generation before it, and higher than any generation that has preceded them. Cool stuff. In terms of musical talent on instruments in general, we are seriously a whole lot better at our instruments than anyone in Paganini's day was (except for the man himself; but what do you expect? he made a deal with the devil to get where he got lol) just because of the roads that people like Paganini have paved for us. Such an important figure.
