I played guitar and banjo for her on that Cavett show. What an elegant and remarkable performer. A true professional! What an honor to be with her then!!

I'm always writing it , but it's true , he had the best guests of any talk-show in television history , and now there's no one , what a shame ! I wish they'd put him back on television with a new version of his show !

Liberace tells a story that in 1945 he was to follow her act at the Plaza Hotel and she had all the gimmicks of the gloves the roses and such a class act that he needed a gimmick to be noticed .... so after seeing a movie about Chopin that featured the Candelabra that he went out and got one for his piano and that became his trademark

A very lovely person who gets me to be a little proud of my name. I always thought it very oldfashoned. But Americans pronounce it so lovely.

In Chicago, she used to play at the Empire Room. A beloved character and a very successful entertainer for decades.

yes, she was closely associated with the beautiful Empire Room at the Palmer House, but she was also booked into the Drake and the Blackstone from time to time. She was a guaranteed draw for any high end hotel that could get her!

A fascinating person. Television (and crime) killed the night club performer. An interesting take.

I doubt that anyone can help out with this observation - the necklace that Hildegarde is wearing looks like real diamonds. Anyone out in KZbinLand have something to offer?
