Robert Todd Lincoln went thru so much. He seen a horrific war and lost his entire immediate family. He must have been thick skinned. He obviously didn't let all those tragedies in his life stop him from being very successful.....Its a shame he never had any children to carry on the family name.

He had kids, 2 of which did have kids as well and incorporated both the Lincoln and Todd names into their kids names. However due to a paternity disagreement of the supposes son of his grandson, the Lincoln lines considered dead. The family name did carry on but not as far as some may have hoped

He and his wife, the former Mary Harlan, had three children. Two girls and a boy. Only the girls lived to grow up and have children. But the grandchildren of Robert and Mary had no children. The last direct descendant, Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith, died in 1985.
