My dad was a mechanic for Joe Leanard, 3 time AMA national champion and in their spare time, used to race hill climbs.. In fact I have a dozen 8mm films of hill climbs back in the early 1960's, with guys climbing on Harley's, BSA and Triumph bikes. I really need to get them digitized...

This is interesting, I had no idea there was bikes made specifically for the purpose of hill climb, but it doesn't surprise me. The Camera angles don't really show how steep the hill is which is disappointing. It makes it look like it should be a lot easier. Wish they showed a view that is level with the horizon and shows how steep the hill actually is.

there's a kill switch linked to the rider, when they fall off the bike, the engine stops. Still, even on a stopped wheel, the spikes or paddles would leave a mark!

That panoramic look downhill at 24:00 shows just how incredibly tall the hill is. There must be a usable trail downhill that the riders must follow.
