1. Switch off your ac while going uphill...ac makes engine to work too hard... 2. dont play music loudly ... 3. Use engine breaking... 4. Use manual mode in automatic transmission vehicles... 5. Adjust the mirrors perfectly ..Do keep checking d rear mirror 6. Do use horn in hair pin bends, blind curves.. 7. Keep the momentum of the car in uphill curves , vehicle should not stall in curves...if the car stops at curves you might get rear ended.. 8. Keep safe distance from two wheelers at hills...at curves many bikers loose control due to tyre skidding.. 9. Make sure the tyres are in good condition...tyres do loose traction if treads are not proper.. 10. Do slow down if there is heavy fog and visibility is low...dont try to over take vehicles when you have low visibility...if it's a day do switch On the lights ... 11. Never try to overtake in a hair pin bend when a vehicle is taking a long Curve turning, and you try to cut his path by taking the short inside turn ...it's very dangerous... 12. Be patient at ghats...you don't get a reward for driving fast at hills.. 13. Do look at the sign boards and get prepared for it.. 14. If you have travelled long distance and you have to go downhill Make sure that the breaks are cooled off at the top of the hill before descending.... 15. Dont use the the clutch , break combination to slow down....use clutch judiciously..

Let me add one thumb rule that you have missed- while going up if you have to choose n th gear in a particular steep climb, while crossing the same place while coming down, you should again choose the same n th gear. In simple words, if you have to choose 1st gear in a steep climb, choose 1st gear again in the same place while coming down. Same for 2nd & 3rd gear also. We make the mistake of choosing 1 gear higher while coming down through the same place. That decreases engine braking by a huge quantity. Its a rule that true experts always use.

@@rohinijyestha1146 Madam if you don't know driving it will be best for you to learn driving on a manual on hills from a reputed driving school with driving school cars only. My advice will be to buy a second hand manual car after you get your license. Later you can always shift to automatic at any point of time. Make sure when you buy an autmatic that it has hill hold control. Regards.

@@rohinijyestha1146 confidence has nothing to do with the brand or model of the car. You can try driving on the plains before driving on the hills. Keep someone expert besides you while driving who can teach you nuances of driving..

I have a habit, whenever i want to overtake a truck i just give a single twin horn, truck driver gives a pass by waving hand or side light as they feel it possible now. This trick has worked for me everytime.

Instead of honking you can try using pass lights even in the day light they responds usually, if not then you can honk

Being pahadi only rule i prescribe is "use more brake than acceleration" in any situation and all the time. You will survive most of the situations. This mindset is missing in the people from plains. Plains people usually push the accelerator so hard even when the situation do not call for it.

आप ने बहुत से महत्वपूर्ण टिप्स बताए पर 2-3 महत्वपूर्ण टिप्स छूट गए है। 1- जैसे कि खड़ी चढ़ाई पर जब जाम या किसी दूसरी वजह से गाड़ी रोकनी पड़े और फिर आगे चलना पड़े तब गाड़ी पीछे की तरफ जाती है। उसे पीछे जाने से कैसे रोकना है ये बहुत ही कम कार मालिक जानते है, इस्पेशली तब तो और भी बुरी स्थिति होती है जब कार का हैंडब्रेक सही से काम न कर रहा हो। ऐसे में एक्सीलेटर और ब्रेक एक पैर से एक साथ यूज करना पड़ता है। 2- स्पेशली टूरिस्टों को पहाड़ो पे कभी भी ड्रिंक कर के गाड़ी नहीं चलानी चाहिए। 3- ड्राइविंग करते समय कभी भी म्यूजिक सलेक्ट करने या अन्य किसी चीज पर एक सेकेण्ड के लिये भी अपना ध्यान नहीं लगाना चाहिए। 4- पानी या कोल्डड्रिंक की बोतल को ड्राइवर के पीछे की तरफ फर्श पर कभी नहीं रखना चाहिए वर्ना ब्रेक लगाने पर उनके ढलंग कर ब्रेक या क्लच पैंडल के नीचे फस जाने की संभावना होती है।

Bahot kam log low beam istemal karte hain. Deeper ka singnal dekar bhi low beam nahi use karte. Best way to use high beam yourself too for better visibility for time being & then use back low beam after you pass that vehicle.

Dear u hv mentioned abt parking lights, which I think shd b hazardous lights in which case all six yellow lights blink continuously. Parking lights r different. Parking lights r used at d time when there is neither dark nor bright. When we use parking lights then only two front n two backside yellow lights are on n they do not blink. In this case vehicles coming from front n back can see ongoing n coming vehicles, properly.

You have nicely explined all the vital points. I would like to add on few more. Please do not mind. It will be a nice idea to keep a punctue repair kit and how to use it according to the type of tyre you are using. i.e Tyre with tube or tubeless. When you are driving in hills you are likely to drive through scarsely populated areas for long. Then if you encounter a puncture you should be able to repair the puncure and move forward. Be well conversant with using of vehicle jack. Minimum you should know how to remove the punctured tyre and repace it with a stepney tyre. Every day before starting the journey check the level of coolent and engine oil. Keep coolent and engine oil spare with you and be well conversant with the method of replenishing it when the level goes down. It will be a nice idea to keep a set of general tools as it may come handy if you find some parts are getting loose due to prolonged driving, to tighten some loose parts, especially wheel nuts when detected during daily inspection before days travel starts. It will be a nice idea to keep a heavy duty car towing belt readily available in markets and Amazon. It can be of geat healp in times of an emergency. Car jump starting cable or kit will be of great help if your battery is more than 2 years old so that you will be able to restart your car with the help of other vehicle users. Learn the method of jump starting a car from you tube. It will also be better to Keep spare one set of spark plugs, halogen head lamp bulbs and oil filter. In critical emergencies in isolated hilly areas where you cannot get vehicle spares, keeping such spares and knowing how to change it yourself will be of great help.
