Been modifying my gear for years. When I was a Security Specialist in the Air Force I would get the guy's in the Survival Shop to do our EST teams sewing. Now retired , I bought a "JUKI" Industrial Sewing Machine 30+ years ago and I have been modifying gear since then!!!! Created my first "Chest Rig" 25 years ago!

I have been adding loop to my backpacks for the past couple of years, but I use Loctite Stik'n Seal (Extreme Conditions) "glue" to attach it. So far it has held up as if I did sew it on. Being able to add extra items to your load out based on what you are doing is invaluable. Plus, when packs do have attachment points, not everyone is the same size, so the fit is very different. Being able to get the proper fit for you with minimal time/investment makes a huge difference. I have had some ideas for other mods and things I would like to make, but those would be best suited for sewing. Thanks for pointing out the Speedy Stitcher, I had no idea it existed. It looks like a great way to try some DIY projects without having to invest heavily into an actual sewing machine.

@@PreparedAirman when gluing I like to give it at least 24 hours to cure (with some weight on top of it), then touch up any loose edges if necessary. If you are going to glue, then sew, maybe a light bead of glue over the stitches will provide an extra layer of protection/durability.

I mod my gear all the time and i make really good kevlar ballistic panels, i just made my 5th pair of under armour compression pant leggings in level 3a, were talking 90 percent coverage minimum with industrial uv resistant, high heat, epoxy resin and extra bartacking and reinforcements in the stitching along the outside and the panel compartments. Its on the outside so the inside still feels amazing and i use elastic/nylon to secure the panels in place for running. I do a lot with kevlar. Just made an expensive polo vest level 3a all around lol. And yes ive tested mybstuff, i test one panel befor i ever even make one for the actual garment

I own the same heavy rig from them. Haven't used it as much as I would like, due to missing feature set. These mods, if I get around to them, should fix most of the issues. Meh, for super light use, as I have clothing pockets. Meh, for heavier use, as I still need to use clothing pockets (and/or mounts on other gear). So far, it has just been easier to sort all gear based on the pack for the mission. I would prefer to carry a standard rig for medium to heavy (easy detach), of all the items I would normally bring, which I think can now work. My med kit, when I'm the designated provider, should not be hidden and need to be searched for by others. Thanks for the info!

Like the videos, and the idea but why not just make a dedicated recon type chest rig and add a JSTA or muntant or spud pouch to it? Are you trying to go from “hiker” to recon to quick hit assaulter type kit?
@PreparedAirman
@PreparedAirman 2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. To my knowledge nothing exists on the market that can conceal a pistol on your chest and be scalable to different threats. It's ment to be In a Civilian Hiker system 95% of the time but if needed it can scale up to a micro chest rig if nessesary for a bug out/get home/Recon situation.

I like that HPG kit, but unfortunately here in Spain it is not available... I have Spiritus MK4 with Ferro mini dangler and I am very very please with them specially the Ferro mini dangler which can hold a lot of stuff. Those with a nice backpack and you can go hiking comfortably.

Spiritus is good stuff too. I know if your not interested in name brand stuff Amazon has a few knock off HPGs that may do that same thing. I haven't tested them but they may be worth a try if your in the market.

Great Idea. Why did you choose to go with OD for your kit bag instead of the multicam or coyote?
@PreparedAirman
@PreparedAirman 2 жыл бұрын
It blends in in most environments. Multicam or coyote gives off a Military or Armed vibe in my mind but that's just me. Dark green tends to stand out less. Boy Scouts have used that color for over a 100 years.😁

I really desired the HPG chest pack years ago, and modified all my packs to accommodate one, with assumption I would purchase multiple. Purchased, and quickly realized they're completely sht, and it's nothing more than for an aesthetic; built well. I felt like such an idiot, and I have no idea as to why you would continue to run a chest pack? Hip packs make more sense, due to a chest packs weapon manipulation being non existent, when you have a fn football attached to your chest. They have all the cons of a chest rig, with none of the pros. Everything about it's is cumbersome and inconvenient. They look kewl, and fanny packs do not, but fanny packs serve the same purpose, and are infinitely more versatile if you have no desire to run a chest rig. I'm fine with chest rigs, but chest packs just make me cringe when I see them now, and I was under the impression that this was something the community was in complete agreement on. I've encountered many people that feel the same. I still run the chest pack on one of my packs, but only out of obligation, and it's basically permanently affixed to one of my packs, that serves no tactical purpose.
@PreparedAirman
@PreparedAirman 2 жыл бұрын
Its your opinion that you don't like a product or you found something that is better for you and your environment but blantently saying it's a terrible all around product is false. Please recommend me a product that can • fully conceal a full size pistol/Light, red dot, and exta magazines. •carry External rifle magazines •Look nothing like traditional style military for "gray man" effect • standalone system not directly attached to your pack. •Modular/ scalable capabilities •Lightweight and comfortable As far as I'm aware through my research nothing fits that criteria and exists yet.

hill people gear, it has the most untidy, ordinary and poor quality construction that I have seen in expensive brands, it is a shame, I do not recommend it to anyone, the zippers do not say "ykk" it has crooked seams, loose threads and poor finishes Look carefully before buying
