I think this was probably one of Connie’s greatest days. When Kitty sang those few words of the song that made her the “Queen of her era”. Since Kitty was one of Connie’s favorite female singers growing up. This was a nice tribute show. Especially since it was long before she died. So as usual…..Well done Mr. Stuart, way to put together another completely classy, Country Music Show!

@@kayshaw70 Thanks Kay. Totally different to the music I grew up with in the 60s except there was a Country and Western hour played on our black and white TV on a Sunday afternoon. An American introduced the show and I loved watching the square dancing. We only had 2/3 channels and it came on after a 3 hour show called "World of Sport."

This must have aired in 2009 (Marty mentioned that Kitty and Johnny had been married for 72 years, and they were married in 1937), making Kitty 90 years old here. Kitty and Webb Pierce were my father's favorite singers.

@donna terrell, I think there is a video showing her singing with Connie Smith on this session. It looked like she was having a hard time remembering the words to Honky Tonk Angels She looked great at 90 and still sounded good. If I was 90 I probably wouldn’t even remember my name. Lol At the end of this video she sure did great on the last stanza.

It was a tribute show to her. They were all singing to her. Giving her her roses while she was alive and well :) She did sing with Connie at the end but it was completely unscripted and spontaneous! Kitty and Johnny "retired" from the road in 2000 but they never stopped working. In 2007 they toured in Canada and several shows around the US. Johnnys health is what completely stopped them. They were the real deal and honest people who loved what they did, just happy to be working and enjoying time with eachother! They worked the road for over 70 years!!!!!! There will never be another Kitty Wells and Johnny Wright.
