The cycling hero we didn’t know we needed until he was here! Thanks for all your work, Phil, especially all the things you do for charity. I’ve been saying for a long time that a lot of road cyclists are too serious about too many things when they get on their bike. They get too competitive on what was supposed to be a casual group ride. Or if your cycling kit isn’t the newest or freshest some cyclists behave like they’re better than others. Riding a bike should always just be about FUN!

Nice one Phil. Your honesty is refreshing. I miss riding in SB. Got to live there for a year and used to have a sweet route I took thru Montecito and Summerland up into Romero Canyon......so sublime. It's on my bucket list to ride again before I die.

I see one or two other people have suggested that you come and take a look at the British Hill Climb season. Hills are shorter but I would wager a good bit steeper than California, also it happens in October so the weather is terrible.

in this case, considering the little separation between the 2 guys, yes it would matter. Disc bikes are generally 1.5 lbs heavier, and 1.5 would make a difference in this climb

I loved riding the big ring ón Glendora Mtn Rd. Ca. And be sure to Check it out and every hill climb in Santa Cruz Ca too. That was my training ground in the late 1970's for 400 miles a week for years. Great video phil, but one suggestion. When you are talking about your personal experience, say "I feel this" or "I do that" instead of "You feel this" and "You feel that" it helps YOU to own the experience and make it your experience.
