Review of the Hilleberg Enan which I use for summer camping and wildcamp in the UK. I use this tent mainly in good weather.

Great little review there Twiggy. Looks like a great tent. I totally agree regarding the footprints. I always get one for my tents or use a polycro sheet. It does make a massive difference. Look forward to seeing you on your next adventure.

@@twiggyescapes 😂 I'll look forward to seeing that video then. I think I'm already too scared for that. I've just come back from Portugal. I hiked some of the Rota Vicentina. I might venture out to Wales next weekend. I'll see what the weather is looking like.

I'd just add one comment to this - if you buy a nammatj 293 pole, circa £60, it add's about 50grams of weight, aka nothing, but gives you a black label 10mm pole. I cannot express what a difference this makes to the stability of the Pole and tent in wind, It's a worth upgrade if your say doing long distance trips when weather is unknown, or bikepacking. Note for people that have the Akto its the same pole too! Agree the footprint is a must to help with condensation, on this the Soulo or the Akto.

Thanks for this great tip, at the moment I use the enan as a fair weather tent but u definitely have me thinking now... Much appreciated 🏕️👍

Much appreciated tip. I had been considering doing that but was not sure if it made much difference. Thanks.

@@1DrBar No worries works a charm, its an exact swop over. Also you can add additional guys to the corner posts, i have on mine. Another big one is the side poles, instad of guyline going to one peg, split them so it give you two per side, can cut them but better to fit another. if one gets ripped out gives you time. I swopped all mine around to 3mm guys from hilleberg and well its been used in some really bad conditions, with these moderation and the smaller front end it really does well in high winds if aligned, arguably better than the Akto oddly ehough (think its due to their large end wedge shape, enan much more pointed. Kerlon 1000 never had a rip either.

Thanks for this interesting review. At one time I used the Akto all year around. Nowadays I use the Enan for general 3 season camping and the Soulo for summit camping and winter. I've never found the condensation too bad actually. If practical I have the inner door at least partly open and I've only very rarely ever had to close the end vents. Well happy with the purchase. I think with a modicum of care it should last me the rest if my hill walking days.

Yes, I'm same enan for up to October then switch to Soulo for winter, both great tents, the quality is worth the price and also feel safer in these tents.

Good information here. I've had my Enan for six years now and can't remember if I got the kerlon 1000 version or the short lived Kerlon 600 one. I agree that the ground cover is a very handy thing for condensation, though it's something I rarely encounter due to the different weather we have here. On high dewpoint days I like to crack the two way zipper at the top for about two inches and if there is no heavy rain I also keep the bottom zipper with about six inches unziped. Interestingly I never sleep with my head in the direction you do, I keep in on your foot end. The other thing that I've found is almost a necessity in our hot humid weather is the inner mesh tent. It really makes a difference. I'm of the opinion that people who only see the pricetag of the Hillebergs are cheating themselves out of a great long term experience. We do only live once, they say. :)

Thanks for the review. Very helpful. Seriously considering purchasing this tent. Can you tell me if a 25” wide sleeping pad fits. The specs show the width at both ends is 23”. Cheers from 🇨🇦

Perfect, thank you. Considering the tent’s side angle, a 25” x 72” sleeping pad fits with a half inch to spare for the pad width. Really appreciate you providing the measurement. Unfortunately we don’t have any retailers for Hilleberg tents in Canada, so was not able to check this myself, in person.

I'm.quite liking some of there tunnel.tents these days. But always a quality brand if you can afford one

Yes I like the nallo 2... Great space, good for winter. They're expensive but I think they're worth the cost because of the resale value. Cheers for watching 👍
@strickostricko Жыл бұрын
You keep mentioning resale value but if they’re good you don’t need to sell. You can easily justify on quality, longevity and safety of having a robust shelter.

Got to agree, I've no intention of selling Jack, the hilleberg tent tents give me confidence and piece of mind in real bad weather.

I bought it from UK, it is cheaper than any import... Still expensive though... Very good tent in my opinion.. Best of luck 👍

Thanks for your comment.. I can finally get back to you thanks to Jack helping me out. To be honest I'm not sure about the mesh I don't have it. I can't see the mesh making things much more comfortable, think it could be expensive for the slight difference it could make. Probably best opening door up on outer, and inner if there is not too many bugs around.
@davidhale15687 ай бұрын
Hi would probably be too warm inside to use it in hot weather due to the fly sheet not being available in a light colour. Hillberg tents are more for cooler northern climates. If you’re thinking of camping in hot weather I’d be looking at Nemo, Big Agnes or MSR tents. Incidentally the mesh inner weights the same as the solid body inner

I'm 6'4" I don't comfortably fit in most backpacking tents. I'll presume this one is no different.

I don't know why manufacturers consistently fail to recognise this.... Yes sadly I think 6 foot would possibly be the limit but I'm sure there's someone who can make it work. Hope you find a tent that fits.. Cheers for watching 👍

@@sahhull True, that's a drawback but it's not a dealbreaker for me. I hike usually in cold, rainy and windy areas which is why I prefer a tent over a tarp myself. I also walk with a large dog that fits into it comfortably too.

No it’s not worth it……. How many times do you go camping per year? Do you go camping in the Autumn/Spring? Do you listen to every outdoor youtuber on here? Do you summit camp? Honestly every youtuber is or has done Hilleberg to death. Most of them have got the tent for free or at a very reduced price. No you do not need a Hilleberg to go camping to go wild camping even in Winter. There other tents out there and even ones that out perform Hilleberg for less cost.
@twiggyescapes8 ай бұрын
It's worth it to me, I haven't found a tent to match for strength, I need a tent I can trust, I camp weekly in all the situations you state... I also have a Soulo... Both brilliant.... Which tents out perform?
