Hitch still admired Churchill and believed he was the only man for the time.

“Then out spake brave Horatius, The Captain of the Gate: "To every man upon this earth Death cometh soon or late. And how can man die better Than facing fearful odds, For the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his gods.” - Thomas Babington Macaulay, Lays of Ancient Rome

If every historian who disagrees with another historian lie, then you dont have a lot of historians left.

And what about in 1918 using arsine-based war gas on Bolsheviks? And repatriations post-WW2? He got more things right than most of his contemporaries which is what counts....

He did want to use war gas also on cities in Germany. Fortunately, the British General Staff did not obey to his order. Churchill was not only criminal, he was sometimes a pure idiot.

he waged a genocidal bombing war on German civilians throughout the war, as he had no way to challenge the Germans in a legitimate military struggle. 2 million civilians were killed. the "repatriations" process was a genocide of 2 million more German civilians where no international aid agency was allowed to intervene.

I wonder if Churchill went to his grave not believing in Christ as the Son of God. Recent interviews with Andrew Roberts indicates that Churchill changed his mind over time on different issues in light of experience and knowledge. I wonder when the words Roberts quoted at the beginning of this talk were spoken. Later in his life, did Churchill change his mind on the nature of Christ?

I am puzzled by his take William Manchester’s biography. I wonder what he really found problematic about it.

I love Churchill and his story will be always a classic. I like this historians defence but he keeps slipping in Jewish agenda stuff. Churchill was often opposed to the jews and rightly so. This historian attacks peoples motives and so teaches attacking motives.

"opposed to the jews and rightly so" Only if you are an irrational anti-Semite like yourself.

“keeps slipping in Jewish agenda stuff”? such as what? byers’ disgusting bias & feeble grasp of the facts is revealed in his additional, erroneous, comment that “Churchill was often opposed to the jews (sic).” there is exactly one article under Churchill’s byline critical of Jews and that related to the prominent role of some Jews in the Bolshevik leadership & support for Bolshevism.

Robert Byers -While I can’t say I “love” Churchill, I am a deep-dive student of WWII and have come to respect greatly the man that was Winston Churchill; in his leadership during the war years, his foresight prior to the war, and for his insightful wit throughout his life. As I run across recent videos and writings, especially on social media, I am amazed at the examples of historical revisionism and the pundits who promote the fallacies and half-truths. I suspect there is an agenda there and I shouldn’t be surprised, but it’s disappointing to see nonetheless.

Harvey Weinstein television series. Do the potential portrayers of Winnie have to give Harvey a " massage " to get their feet in the door, as iit were ? I presume that plan has been shelved, anyway.

Thats how Churchill would have wanted it. He once called Zionist leader Chaim Weizmann his "master".
