I love this place. Hilton Head Island offers great fishing opportunities as well as an amazing abundance of wildlife to view. I rented a kayak and decided to go see if I can catch some fish in Palmetto Lagoon. Here is a tip come prepared. I should have brought a net and maybe even had heavier duty fishing gear to tangle with these beasts. They made me look like a brand new angler. If anything I did catch one redfish and seen some beautiful wildlife! If you ever come here to fish bring some jerkbaits for some reason these fish in South Carolina love them!

Next time, go grab a bucket full of fiddler crabs at low tide and put a drop shot rig on your rod and reel and catch yourself some monster Sheepshead under those bridges around the pilings. They are all over the place under there. Plus, you'll also catch redfish and other species. Everything pretty much eats fiddler crab. Many people say that Sheepshead taste like lobster. It is definitely one of the best tasting fish you can catch on the East Coast. plus, pound-for-pound, they are one of the toughest fighting fish

Honestly I wouldn’t know. I do know that there are these gate/valves that push water in and out of the lagoon. Fishing near those were great!

I live in Cincinnati. East Fork Little Miami runs through my property. Fish it all the time. I’m down here in HHI this week. Tried some cranks in the Seaside lagoons...not even a bite. Was wondering what lures work down here. I might give the XRap a go since it seems to work for you. Thanks!

Xraps, twitchbaits, popping corks with shrimp or mudminnows is very effective too. Also mudminnows on the bottom kills the reds and flounder

If your drag is set properly, you're knots are all tied properly, and you don't have any weak spots or kinks in your line , then you should be able to catch any fish that is in those waters, with the possible exception of a Bluefish that could possibly cut you off with its teeth.

Run that 10lb mono to a light wire leader and youll be fine. Have plenty of stretch to fight the fish and not break off from and any toothy critters wont cut you off.

My advice for a good inshore setup would be a 2500 reel ( I use the diawa legalis LT), and a medium power rod. I would spool it with 20lb braid with 20lb leader! Hope this helps you. I do a ton of saltwater fishing so if you need any advice hmu on ig my tag is the same as my yt name!
