You can get by with 12 lb line, but put a 3 or 4 foot piece of clear plastic air tubing above swivel to protect line from barnacles. Line can slide through tubing when it gets against a piling.
@southernsalt Жыл бұрын
That’s actually a really good idea that I’ve never heard of before. Thanks!!
@TridentDriver Жыл бұрын
Seems like you would totally defeat the purpose of the small line. If your goin to put tubing over your line you may as well use a 120 lb mono leader
@southernsalt Жыл бұрын
The leader would still be exposed. He’s talking about using tubing around the knot which’s where most of my line drag occurs.

My newest rod is a 75cm two-section telescopic rod that fits in my small backpack, it’s solid enough, it feels great and it looks great, especially with the reel I bought for it, colours match nicely 👍 I’m forty now, but since my early twenties my gear has just kept getting smaller and lighter, and the level of fun I’ve had with it gets better and better, lol For me, not only is it more fun feeling every little movement, but you know that if you hook a big one you’re really going to have to work hard to land it 👌 🎣

I saw a video the guy addressed being pinched by using long needle nose plyers and catching them from behind by hand. He also said to leave the big claw attached. Interesting video Try soaking plastic baits in the oil from good cans of tuna fish I am in NW Ohio on Lake Erie When the water is BROWN with mud I use a jig and trailer scented and it makes a Huge difference But I have used that trick fishing for a lot of different fish different places

I've been inspired, I'm going to the Gulf coast this summer, and I'm going to catch sheepshead on my fly tackle, flies, I'll probably tie a fiddler crab fly, and some sand worm and sand flea artificials..

The type of fishing line I'd prefer to use when fishing for sheep head's black dum an flownder fish 🐠🐟🐠🐟 is mono filament line or breaded line at 40 to 60 now if you're fishing off rooks or even fishing off cliffs then onistly it's best to use 80 to 120 lbs test lines
