Hilton Head Island's Hidden Beach - Fish Haul Beach Park

Sometimes, you just want to get away from the crowds and curl up with a good book on your own private island. While you may not get the private island part, it's sometimes possible to have your own private beach. Fish Haul Beach Park is a secluded beach far enough from the regular beaches to almost feel "hidden".

How far can I walk from the entry point at the parking lot? You just said turn left and it is endless. 1/2 mile? 4 miles? I want to book a vacation property and I love the idea of a less traveled beach, but my idea of a great day at the beach is a really long walk. And it sounds like I have to have low tide to walk on this beach, but given low tide how far can I walk? Thank you!

Hi Julie, thanks for the questions. Apologies for the vagueness. "Endless" was in the context of finding an isolated spot. As far as distance, you can walk 1.75 miles before reaching the rocks used to shore up the terrain behind Hilton Head Plantation. That will be as far as you can walk safely. You can mark your distance like this: the lone Pine tree (you will know it when you see it) is at 1.0 mile. The lone Palm tree is 1.5 miles. You will cross two streams during the journey. They are small and only require about 1 or 2 steps. As far as the shoreline goes at high tide, in the video you can see the border of white sand and brown mud. Thats usually the high tide peak (barring some tropical activity or crazy lunar tides). You will be able to find a white sand walk the entire 1.75 miles though the width will change at times. The farther you walk, the more natural the beach gets. Please let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching.
