I love when they have the music blasting while your riding the ride. Makes it more fun.

Yes the lack of loud loud guitars and bass makes it not quite the same experience we had back in the day.

I've always adored these rides because some of them have a skiing/winter sports theme, which makes sense because of my over-obsession with skiing.

I worked for a traveling show when I was 18. Under the Himalaya was one of the spots where after work we might chill with some beers (among other chemicals). It was also a nice "bunkhouse". Sleeping on the grass with a summer breeze blowing in under the tarps is my best memory of the ride, with the worst being installing the ceiling tarp. Crazy Summer! Today I'm surprised I lived through it!

We’d exit the Himalaya at the Minnesota State Fair and get right back in line to ride again. I loved the ski theme and the yell of, “Do you wanna go fasterrrrrr?” Great childhood memories. I even worked at the Fair one year in Jr. High. This year was my 60th attending the MN State Fair ❤️ Sadly, the Himilaya was gone from its place at the South end of the Midway.

Thanks for sharing your stories Suzy. Sounds like wonderful childhood me memories to me! I always remember the old Himalayas on the fair circuit from when I was a kid as well. There was an annual fair on the beach here in NE Ohio and every year they brought the Himalaya. It always seemed soooo fast, the operator would ask everyone to scream if they wanted to go faster, and it had an annoyingly loud siren when the ride hit full speed. It was really the perfect carnival ride! Nowadays, these old Reverchon Himalayas are a rare find. 😢.

Loved this ride back in the day when I would go to the fair. They would crank up the hard rock and just let er rip. Such great memories.

My mom and I would ALWAYS go on these. The one I remember the clearest was the Himalaya (@ 2:48!) The skiing/winter theme and images always stayed in my memory...

Wow, I remember riding this at the CA State Fair all the time in the early 90s while 80s rock blared through the speakers. I don’t think I could handle it now as an adult with inner ear issues. 😞

Ain’t that a bitch? Motion sickness when adult but not when little. So stupid. Also I’ve never been a thrill ride guy. The most for me are the chimney drops and carasol type thing and slides

Recently my friend and I went to Indiana Beach, and we rode this ride. I could ride one of these all day and not get tired of it

My favorite version of the Himalaya/Music Express rides was a Himalaya ride that featured a gigantic disco ball in the center. The ride was pretty fast and it was even faster in reverse. The ride operator would play dance music. I rode that one in the early 1980's and loved it

I can't believe the Super Himalaya still exists somewhere. I first rode this at the Virginia state Fair 1975. Our music however was much much louder and much much better...esp at night lit up.

I won’t go on it again out of fear. The first time was okay but as an adult more and as the second time, the fucking operator had it CRANKED to where even other people wanted off I think. I almost fell out 😖

yeah it is , i always think when it hits a hill the bar will come open well that actually did happen to me but it didnt actually unlock it just loosened up (damn friday the 13th) it scared me i was screaming saying the bar was open the operator stopped the ride and it was locked i looked like a complete idiot lol
