The Royal Enfield Himalayan is often referred to as the "Go Anywhere Bike" due to its versatility and off-road capabilities. It's designed for riders who want to explore rugged terrains and embark on long journeys, especially in the Himalayan region. Here are some key features and aspects of the Royal Enfield Himalayan that make it a popular choice for adventure riders:
Built for Adventure: The Himalayan is purpose-built for adventure riding. It features a rugged and durable design with a high ground clearance, long-travel suspension, and an upright riding posture, making it well-suited for various terrains.
Powerful Engine: The Himalayan is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, and fuel-injected engine that provides a good balance of power and torque, making it suitable for both on-road and off-road riding.
Off-Road Capability: It comes with spoked wheels and knobby tires, enhancing its off-road performance. The long suspension travel allows the bike to handle rough terrain and absorb shocks effectively.
Comfortable Riding Position: The bike offers a comfortable upright riding position with wide handlebars, which reduces rider fatigue on long journeys.
Luggage and Accessory Options: The Himalayan has options for mounting luggage, panniers, and other accessories, making it practical for extended adventures.
All-Weather Performance: It's designed to perform well in various weather conditions, whether you're riding in the scorching heat of the plains or the cold, high-altitude regions of the Himalayas.
Affordable: Compared to many adventure touring motorcycles, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is relatively affordable, making it accessible to a wide range of riders.
Cult Following: The Himalayan has gained a cult following among adventure and touring enthusiasts, thanks to its reliability and the sense of freedom it offers on the open road.
If you're planning your first ride on a Royal Enfield Himalayan, it's essential to be well-prepared and have the right gear. Additionally, make sure to get comfortable with the bike's handling, especially on different terrains, and understand its maintenance requirements for a trouble-free journey. The Himalayan is an excellent choice for riders looking to explore diverse and challenging landscapes.

Hi Paul, I've had one for nearly 3 years, it's been a true trojan, it took me to Ukraine and back over 10 days in the worst conditions I've ever encountered, it never missed a beat in 3400 miles, it's the Land Rover of the bike world, this bike you have to ride it before you comment on it, these Mk1's will be around for many years to come, they're not fast , which will keep you out of trouble, and they'll get you there, cheaply too. Every motorcyclist should have one in their garage, I smile every time I'm out on it...parts are dirt cheap too...just load it up and head off into the distance...

The front bars are to hold bags Paul on the Himalayan. ( for stuff like first aid kit, compass, whistle, spare tube, hi-viz vest ) Will not do wheelies. Roughly 70 MPG. Will climb the side of a mountain and then some. Same bike w/4500 miles in 9 months. A leftover at 3999.00 is a doggone steal. Roughly 75 MPH max. Slips into gear like a breeze, EVEN if you forget to pull in clutch. IMO, the best all around adventure dual sport for the money. The Scram is a Himalayan with fewer whistles.

Crackin bikes, I did 4500 miles across Portugal and Spain in the summer, just kept chugging along, a joy to own and ride, the engine definately loosens up noticeably after about 5 k miles

Those fork gaiters riding up....mine does that too. Cured with electrical ties but you really shouldn't have to.

I've done the Hardknott on a Himalayan. It's no trouble at all for the bike, but take care on the corner of doom, especially if taking it in the uphill direction. It is very steep and tight, so you have to commit to it, but its also blind. It's probably safer to pull in hard to the left and stop, pivot the bike around so you can take the last bit in a straight line instead of fully cranked over.

Cracking video Paul. Now I see why you've been tidying the garage. Making room for the new steed. I might invest in one if the prices fall? Also need to part with the DR. Take care.

I went with the Himmy over the scram due to height n felt more comfy. Just got to 1500 miles engine def takes awhile to bed in and I still find 2nd a bit lumpy. Just about to add crash bars. Love it!

Try out the Voge Rally. 30Kg lighter. Better off road. I had a Himalayan and personally just didn't get on with it. Fell in love with the Rally first time off road. Was a £1000 less than Himalayan until price drop last week. Check out Nathan the postmans videos on the Rally and totally ignore MCN and Ride "test" LOL of the bike. I've been riding since 1974 and the Rally is "fun" to ride. I find it the perfect compliment to my NC750X DCT and Moto Guzzi MGX-21. 0:01 0:01

Looking for comparisons of the 411 and the new 450 - Itchy Boots says the new bike was a bit of a revelation (in her view). I found it hard to choose between the NC750X and the 411 Himalayan - in the end I chose the Honda - but I'm very swayed by the notion that the 450 has even better suspension while the NC's is pretty rubbish (in my view). I don't intentionally do much off-tarmac stuff, but the Himmy sounds so much more comfortable...

@@birchwoodbiker there’s a lot to be said for having something low powered as you can use all the power without fear of being banned!! My wife has a Ford KA and I love driving that thing, it’s sooooo much fun, in fact it’s known in our house as ‘the go kart’ 😎

Well I’ve had mine for coming up to three years now. 16k on it, it’s done Lands End to JoG, St David’s to Ness point all the big Lake District passes all the high passes in wales. Along the south coast, and many many miles around the Staffordshire moorlands and the Staffordshire and Derbyshire Peak District. When you get it ( and it doesn’t take too long as you found out) they are such great bikes. Like you I have an NC as well ( the wife prefers that ) so did you ?

Seems like a lot of bike for your money, by comparison I paid £5700 for my little honda 350 adv. Great video Paul, any chance you could blag a go on that 300 Rally ? I'm quite interested in one! I don't have a proper off roader now for the WW24 or the ABR Rally 👍
