I'm heartbroken and angry that these two actors couldn't work together to give the fans a meaningful end to their relationship. Their characters had such a wonderful, special attachment to each other and we got an entire season of them not even appearing in the same damned room! It was a betrayal to all the fans who were moved by that relationship. Pathetic that the writers & actors couldn't come up with something better.

Mark didn't leave because of her. He left because he'd been doing it for 20 years and he was tired. It's not the same without him but I understand why he left. He's in his 70s and wanted more time with his family.

It's a father and daughter relationship and nothing more. It's how Gibbs has dealt with the loss his first wife Shannon and his daughter Kelly. For Abby it's how she deals with the loss of her adoptive parents. Her real parents and other family members are still out there potentially alive technically. Some reason the show abruptly ended that storyline and basically acted like it never happened after. Edit: It should have been Abby and McGee.

I think Abby refused to commit to any man including McGee or Ranger Burt because she wanted to be Gibbs girlfriend not his replacement daughter and when McGee got engaged to and then married Delilah and she realised that Gibbs would only ever see as a replacement for Kelly she left.

I think there was a lot of flirting in the early seasons that the writers tried to minimize in the later seasons, which didn’t really work too well
