HINAPIA and OSR story is a rare case in KPop industry when the group had no choice other than disbanding purely due to circumstance. Hinapia's loss is even sadder than Pristin's to be honest. Clearly some bad or toxic stuff happened at Pledis for 6 of the 10 members of Pristin to give up the idol life a mere year or so after winning Rookie of the Year Awards. By contrast, the Hinapia members seemed hyped and happy for the future and OSR actually seemed to have a plan and a concept for the group. The presence of Bada (sad we couldn't see her develop as an idol) was also a good move, since it clearly separated Hinapia from being a mere Pristin sub-group. Also feel the worst for Minkyeung, the group was her idea and she got them together and scouted an agency because she didn't want to throw away her training and dreams only for it to happen anyway. I just wonder why OSR didn't do a Kickstarter or Makestar to fund their comebacks - given the heavy Pristin fandom at large, they could have reached Stellar levels of fan funding.

@@bubba94290 But why? And who? Only HYBE/Pledis would have the motivation or power for such a blacklist, but what would be in it for them? The members could more more easily do that NOW as free agents with no entertainment career to look forward to.

@@bubba94290 if GFRIEND wasn’t blacklisted after the scandal and shock that it was their separation from HYBE/SouMu, I doubt HINAPIA/Pristin girls were when they weren’t even around that much in both groups. No, the girls are just too “old” for the industry now and getting your dreams destroyed for the second time is just devastating mentally. The girls simply gave up.
@joesama32826 ай бұрын
Group like Gfriend and Lovelyz disbandment wasn't the end of the world for them, since they're pretty much the real establish idols, when they disbanded there were still pretty good small companies with decent budget wanting to sign them up. For the Pristin members except the two iOi members were not establish yet but their company offed them so quickly due to mismanagement. By the time they were disbanded, couple years already wasted during the period that they should be expose to the general public which they did not, so they are simply too "old" for the industry with tagging of "past failed group" with them can't really attract more companies options that will hit them up unfortunately. They're not blacklisted, but simply passed the expiry date of an idol which closes many opportunities in the industry which logically anyone would give up the industry entirely and just pursue normal life

Lmfao what? Small forgotten agencies?? Who? Source Music that had one of the top 5 ggs of South Korea: GFRIEND? Pledis that has SEVENTEEN one the biggest boy groups in K-pop and that are million sellers and Nuest who was also extremely well known in SK? KOZ Entertainment that has one of the most talented producers soloist with multiple viral hits: Zico? HYBE doesn’t care about nugu groups or agencies. Every company they acquired was because they wanted another well known, popular and successful artist to add to their lineup.

@@digitalcookiemonster source was and(IMO) still is a relatively small agency. Also as a realistic Kpop fan, You mean the Gfriend that the S. Korean GP hated when the songs didn’t sound like Glassbead or Rough every damn comeback? I enjoyed the underrated songs like Fingertip, Apple, Fever, Mago and Labyrinth but fans either complained or didn’t follow so they had no choice to be stagnant. They were wrongfully disbanded as they were in the middle of reaching the popularity and recognition they deserved as a team. With that said, No matter the TALENT that comes OUT, the notoriety of the agency could still be SMALL. While Fromis9 is still gaining popularity, Seventeen is really holding pledis together! Pledis a company that had extreme popularity with After School, Hello Venus, Orange Caramel, Pristin and NUEST. They mismanaged a majority if not ALL the idols they have minus Nana (the only active AS and OC member left)because she’s a decent actress. PLEDIS needed Hybe’s Acquisition to stay afloat. My comment wasn’t exactly about them reviving the idol groups. My comment was explaining that if Hybe, a now know agency/corporation who’s been acquiring agencies and kinda rebranding, refocusing their direction and giving them assistance in whatever way, why not acquire agencies that have promise that some fans know are outwardly struggling? They didn’t add the agencies like Big Hit to their company roster because Jin is an amazing Visual or seventeen is amazing.
@digitalcookiemonster2 жыл бұрын
@@officialkamauharvey South Korea never hated GFRIEND and their now new careers is the prove of that because every broadcast station and a very diverse list of famous people are being so supportive and being happy of seeing them again. The trend and attention simply changed with KPOP becoming a global thing and SouMu failed to adapt GF but they were always considered a TOP GG til the very end hence the backlash they got from the media when the disbandment happened. SouMu was also quite well off judging by the girls’ comfort (separate dorms, first class flights, three vans for themselves, spending 10,000 USD monthly of only food for them, etc) their three brand new offices and plenty of other things I can point out. They were also preparing their next boy group and SinB said they had many trainees. Pledis was completely fine with Seventeen and Nuest, so much that they had no reason to come for Fromis and they were not even planning to debut a new group in a few years time. Neither SouMu or Pledis “needed” HYBE, in fact, SVT hated moving to that building and they said so. The only reason why both agencies let themselves be acquired is the same reason as others: ambition for more and more money and yea, because HYBE was bigger and “better” (but this doesn’t mean that they NEEDED it) You won’t see HYBE acquiring nugu groups any time soon.

@@gwenmloveskpopandmore Neither Seventeen or Nuest we’re being neglected. Seventeen is the bread winner and Nuest was selling very well after Produce so no, they were not gonna be neglected. Fromis was a co-joint project, they weren’t the sole responsibility of Pledis. The only reason as to why they were brought in was 1) Pledis has no intention of producing a new gg and 2) They needed a balance in the company when GFRIEND disbanded.

I wanna ask you, as an expert in underrated groups, 2 genuine questions: 1. Do you think every underrated group out there are really desperate about getting popular or are they just happy the way they are now? The same goes with the company. 2. Someone on twt said if a company doesn't have enough money to promote their group, they shouldn't be debuted in the first place. What do you think about this?
@searchingforelris2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I can only speak for myself (we're a team) but I'll gladly answer your questions. 1) I think that idols choose their career path in the first place to become famous and receive attention for their talent and hard work. If they are recognized enough to make a living and continue to release music, I think they're fine but in most cases - they aren't. Struggling financially and having little to no releases wouldn't make one happy, in my opinion. 2) I would agree on this statement. So many groups debut every year and if you can't push the group with a lot of promotions then you're simply wasting their time. Groups without any money don't make it, except for a handful of exceptions in a field where hundreds of groups debut every year. If a company has no money, the idol spends years training, debuting, not receiving any pay, being in debt and wastes their time and efforts there. Having money is not a guarantee for success but it's a very important factor. I hope I answered your questions :)

@@searchingforelris I do agree about the money thing too. There’s just too many groups that just mesh together and if you’re not in the big3 your chances of survival are even lower, but the we do get groups like Mamamoo, BTS, GFRIEND, Infinite etc who’s company didn’t have money but those groups are became very popular. It’s kind of sad because the idols and companies always hang on to that small chance but it’s so small and so far away most of the time.

Their groups conecept flet like a gritter version of Vs concept and not in a good way. Also completely convinced that theres a possibility someone was paid off to end pristin as it was a debut because they were too good because status quo or they couldnt come back without kyla because theyll have snsd AND twice comparisons who were supposed to be the new girl next door replacement. But pristing gave bordingschool girls and a solid bop so again threat to status quo

My guess on Pristin's disbandment is different, Pledis artist have individual contracts not group ones like most companies the difference being for the company is that with this type of contract the company has to prioritise the artist over the group while the other is reversed, I also heard a rumour that when joining the group they only have to commit for two years after which they can withdraw for any reason with prior notification. My theory is a couple of key members wanted out to pursue other careers and those members were the most popular or important and them leaving would have basically killed the group before it could stabilise its fanbase.
