Such a pity one can’t hear cello as one should above the piano part. Such a pity.!

I must confess that these first works of Hindemith are not his best for me. They are too close to tonality, with some jumps aside that do not constitute a language. Later on, he will find a convincing style. I must confess also that I am sensitive to that kind of peculiar lyrism which emerbes from the second piece.

I appreciate your comments, but I find that even now, Hindemith has a unique voice. If I came across this music without knowing it was his, I would not guess Hindemith, although there are hints in a passage here and there. However, I would not assume it was someone else. He doesn’t sound LIKE someone. Rather, I would assume it was a young early 20-century composer who was still developing

I made my comment during the second piece. Listening to the third I hear much more Hindemith. If I Heard THIS unaware of who wrote it, Hindemith would definitely come to mind.
