everytime I hear the beginning of this piece it reminds me of that pianist who got completely screwed in a competition because he didn't know the conductor switched the order of the pieces he was performing

The 4th movement has lots of L'histoire du soldat energy. I've never heard what all the great 20th century composers thought of each other.

I studied this for my music A-Levels :D I come back to it now and then. I'm sadly past my time of religiously listening to classical 😅but I still enjoy this suite so much. Vivo cracks me up with those trombone slides xD

Thanks for posting. I'm sure I'm just nit-picking but cutting off some or all of the winds for some pages of the score was a little annoying.

The violin cadenza in the last movement is very reminiscent of "The Lark Ascending." Here are some very approximate tempos: 1. Prelude, half = 48 2. Scherzo, half = 120 (yes I know 7/4 isn't divisible into half notes, but that's the tempo) 3. Alla Sarabanda, Lento ma non troppo, quarter = 46 4. Burlesca, Allegro moderato quarter = 84, poco piu mosso quarter = 124, Andante quarter = 64, Presto quarter = 144, Andante quarter = 80.
