Indonesian here. Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Singapore, Malaysia including Bali) used to be majority hindu/buddhist (sanatani dharma) before 13th-14th century, during reign of Srivijaya and Majapahit kingdom rule. When Islamization came, majority hindus from Java who didnt want to convert to islam migrated to bali after the fall of the last Sanatani Kingdom which ruled ancient Indonesia (the Majapahit) around 16th century. Then until now Bali island remains Hindu

they werent actually hindu...but local belief called gamatirta mixed hindu....after communist riot...government compelled everyone to adhere to one of 5 international recognized religions...but now they already officialy recognized local belief as 7th religin on 2017...so just dont try to pull them here and there to completely must similiar to indian hinduism...laws or cultures or processions etc...
