@Tel Aviv For the hindu women, if the women really wants to marry him, she'll study the religion, and then if she wants she can convert and marry him. Converting just for the sake of love won't last, and no muslims want that. For the muslim women, she actually can lose faith in Islam. Murtad, which roughly means apostates in English, is actually different than the apostates that we actually understand. If she simply loses faith in Islam, then fine whatever, that is between God and her, but if she makes it political and threatens the religion, then that is what becomes the problem. The problem is not simply just the losing of faith, it's the act that threatens the religion like spreading misinformations about the religion.

Bali is in Indonesia. The Indonesian Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. A number of different religions are practiced in the country, and their collective influence on the country's political, economic and cultural life is significant. The government recognizes only six official religions (Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism). In the 2010 Indonesian census, 87.18% of Indonesians identified themselves as Muslim (with Sunnis more than 99%, Shias 0.5%, Ahmadis 0.2%), 6.96% as Protestant, 2.91% as Catholic, 1.69% as Hindu, 0.72% as Buddhist, 0.05% as Confucianism, 0.13% other, and 0.38% unstated or not asked. Indonesia does not recognize agnosticism or atheism, and blasphemy is illegal. Reference From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

European culture is also very sophisticated i think, their traditional garments, architectures, food and other aspects are very exquisite. It's just that they're embracing modernism and pretty much see the cultural ceremonies as something that's not of everyday life. But i really appreciate how the Europeans still keep their cultures preserved. For me, culture is still somewhat important in my daily life and because of this living continuity, the Asian cultures are still pretty much alive and sophisticated.

True, most big island of Indonesia still have their own king and queen given hereditary, such as Bali, Yogyakarta in Java, Kutai in Borneo, Papua and etc... and base on the fight of their own people to keep their culture. Their Kings and Queens are acknowledged as their culture keepers. They live in their own castle or palaces and to be worship by their people as their cultural leaders.

@nuraliamazlan37894 жыл бұрын
I guess for most Asians, it's the case. When you marry someone, you marry their family too. Therefore, marriage is thoroughly thought of, you don't simply settle down, you evaluate their family, to see if you are a fit to them as well as they are to you. This is a relatively new concept for my American boyfriend, who finds it awesomely weird and wholesome at the same time, whenever we talk about marriage as he knows he has to prove his worth to my family as much as I would do so to his. Unfortunately, he came from a broken family and although he now lives with his father and stepmom's family (parents separated when he was 2), he still finds it difficult to be the connecting link between both his parents while I, on the other hand, have parents who have been married for 34 years. Have my parents not argue before? Just like any other couple would do. But the fact that they built a solid foundation first before they got married made them stay and worked out their problems as they know their marriage involves not just them, but a plethora of other people in their nucleus and extended family. My point is, before they were married, they have evaluated if both of them would fit into each other's families. I even went as far as telling him, if we get married, his parents would be my parents too and I would have the same obligation towards them as I do towards mine. I guess he is a bit overwhelmed (in a good way) as he heard that.

They do, but not actually "gift" per se. The wedding family will give rice, foods, fruits, sugar, coffee powder (to be taken home for the helper's family) or even including traditional clothing as token of appreciation for their help and effort. There are a lot of special places in Indonesia, like Aceh and Yogyakarta (every places in Indonesia is special in a certain point actually, being a multicutural country), but we never force people to convert to another religion, it againts the laws and Pancasila.

kind of strange for the groom to say he doesnt see the big deal in his wives work/being a celebrity. i hope he meant to say he still sees her for herself. its so unfair that the princess cant marry who she wants and keep her title like her brothers. there are so many societal pressures and the ability to cast women away is so sad.

I really enjoyed when the grooms father talked about humble beginnings living in Sydney working and how he struggled and it was painful but he got through it and I just goes to show how humble this family are. The father relocated his family probably against so many people to try to give his family not so much a better life but show both cultures and experiences being mixed race.. as well as giving them a proper education and he had to work he had to work to support them even if the job was beneath him and he still did it and that’s shows a good character of a person.. cool beans

I love how you'd never know that they were royalty. They look and act like regular people. It is pretty neat how they blend cultures. It must be difficult respecting all the local cultures and avoiding accidentally offending someone. I would have mixed feelings if I fell in love with a royal girl that would lose her position if she didn't marry into royalty. Obviously she doesn't see any eligible men in the family, that she likes, so it would be sad if she didn't marry outside. She loses either way.

Same happened to the Princess of Japan. She married an office boy and loss her title. If I were a royal princess, I will chose the family than love. Love can be learn. But family can't be exchanged.

@@steshka1015 Of course, it probably depends on the level of royalty. Japan's is recognized, though generally powerless while the various Indonesian families aren't recognized much at all.

@ivanaanggie4643 жыл бұрын
I live in Bali and would like to explain a bitt on why they said she will lose her position in the family. Balinese bride goes to the groom family, that means all ceremonies and visiting temple only for your title, Tjokorda is a first name and also the title, from the warrior family. If the princess marry someone with the title that indicates from the warrior family then she can still pray and visit the temple of their family, bcs of the same status, if she marry someone of higher status then she can visit other temple but she most likely will be busy enough with her husband family temple, bcs in Bali higher status means more rules and traditions, her family will also have to show more respect to her and her husband family bcs of higher status, if she marries below her status than she cannot visit her old temple due to her lower status now (following her husband status). Like if you visit balinese temple like Pura Besakih, you will see few courtyard of temple inside that being fence and you can read on the placards of the name and status that is allowed there.
@victorwelkin91363 жыл бұрын
@@ivanaanggie464 Do you know all the Families and their status? That is a very interesting idea. Is it local to Balinese or from India with their casts? Similar, but different is the way Navajo clans work. They don't take it super seriously, but I remember an old woman asking this kid what clan he was from and then acting very respectful because he was from a clan than was considered her clan's elder.

Indonesian love to do this, especially Bali when the cultured is still rooted heavily. They love to do this, donated their time and money is the respect they give to each other and because it makes them more bonded to each other as Balinese people or more like cultural family. These aesthetic is so different from the western culture where is more individual, which you got your space but it feels more lonely sometimes in my opinion. I experience both of the worlds, and I can say, I choose the Indonesian culture in a million years. I sometimes know western people laugh and make fun of our culture, but In Indonesia, you would hardly hear people got lonely on holidays or people take prescription medicine just to be happy because in Indonesia people are more densely connected to each other.

What a beautiful documentary of a royal family, a long-term love story, a fight against and for tradition. Balinese people seem so down to earth and wonderful. I couldn't watch the English royal wedding. It felt pretentious and unnecessarily hyped to me, especially coming from a country that the British had colonized. This on the other hand, felt completely different. Also, can we all agree that princess Asri is absolutely perfect? Adapting to Balinese culture, not being super bitter and even helping the Balinese after the bombing- as a person and not as a princess? She even reminded us about the Balinese losses. What an incredible royal family, incredible love story and incredible culture!
