न तस्य प्रतिमा अस्ति यस्य नाम महद्यशः । हिरण्यगर्भ इत्येष मा मा हिंसीदित्येषा यस्मान्न जात इत्येषः ॥ (यजुर्वेद 32.3) It says,the supreme lord is master of all wisdom and success as explained in Hiranyagarbha from Rigveda and there is no other exists in this universe who is comparable or parallel to him. Pratimaan means “comparable”. e.g. “ऐसा कोई धनुर्धर नही जो अर्जुन के प्रतिमान हो" (There is no archer who is comparable to the Arjun) Zakir Naik took different meaning from “Pratima” and “Pratimaan” because he read Vedas while wearing Quran’s glasses. He thinks Hindus consider that Idols are gods (this is the most misunderstood concept he created about Idol worship) but he never tried to learn the meaning of Vigraha or Idol is generally known as one which inspires. Hindus seek god’s divinely formed beauty because it is described by god itself in many Hindu scriptures. Be it Vishwaroop Darshan from Gita or many incarnations of Lord Vishnu or Lord Shiva are vividly described as Avtar or Roop. So yes! there is a form of a God and there is absolute formless state of god too. The image or murti icon is a symbol of the supreme power and this symbol is used in the Veda many times. Recall the famous purusha hymn in [RV 10.90] or in chap. 31 where the Supreme Person is symbolized by a being of innumerable heads. It depends on how one sees him. And there is nothing wrong in Idol worshiping! In fact it is the most definite way to describe his Bhagvad Swaroop (Ultimate Wisdom) in our mind. Multiple hands means he is skilled in every single Vidya, he keeps weapons to destroy our wicked qualities, He has multiple heads which describes he is master of all kind of theories and philosophies, he is the knowledge of a believer and he is also knowledge of an atheist too! 2.अंध तमः प्र विशंति येसम्भुतिमुपासते । ततो भुय इव ते तमो य उ सम्भूत्या रता ॥ (यजुर्वेद 40.9) Enter into the darkness those (fools) who engage into the activities of destruction (by creating conflict based on ideology, likes, race or origin), yet enter into greater darkness those who engage into (selfish ) the lust of material gatherings. It doesn't meant for those who worship Vigraha (Idols) will go to hell. This is another biggest misquotation he did with this vedic verse. Having said that, there is no mention of worship in above verse. First he misquoted the Pratima word and then he misquoted the Sambhooti word, this was his very biased claim to prove his Quran’s concept of Idolatry. Mostly Sanskrit words have two or more meanings, and this is where Zakir Naik failed in understanding the Sanskrit. The word Upasate (उपासते) have three different synonyms. Rever or Worship To be devoted or attached to use This is what I got in result when I searched Sanskrit word, I got loads of different meanings of it. This is why Zakir Naik failed to understand this verse completely. He considered Sambhuti as an Idol and Asambhuti as natural things like water, fire etc. But Yajurved totally denies his idiotic translations, according to Yajurved, Sambhuti is manifested thing like birth and Asambhuti is destruction or death. The one who follows destruction are entering in darkness, this means the one who fears of death and always engaged to win over death is enters the darkness. They ignores the truth mostly. and those enters into more darkness whom are attached to the materialistic desires and lusts. Materialistic things like lust, fear, anger and greed. This has mention in Bhagvad Gita too, when Shri Krishna inspires Arjun to not to run away from your responsibilities for your greed of saving Kuru clan. Zakir Naik also ignored the 10th & 11th verse from 40th chapter of Yajurveda because it completely denies his misquoted theory. Yajurved 40.10 - The god has given detailed description about it, that effect of Sambhuti yog is different while effect of Asambhuti yog is more different. Effect of creation is different and effect of destruction is more different. Yajurved 40.11 - Thats why know Sambhuti as well as Asambhuti equally. Know Sambhuti to create good things and know Asambhuti to destroy bad things. If you follow Sambhuti and Asambhuti both then you will get the moksha. The essence of this verse is clear, Those who are engaged to half knowledge are entering in darkness. Zakir Naik acted like a philosopher by saying this verse but he is actually fond of half knowledge which will lead him to darkness. XD 3. अनुशासन पर्व महाभारत (Mahabharat Anushasan Parva) I have listen to him when he mentioned a scene from Mahabharata when Yudhishthir asks to Bhishma about a welcoming a guest. Zakir Naik said that “according to Mahabharat it is legal to eat cow meat” he said this sentence openly and got a huge applaud from his blind followers. There is no mention of eating cow meat in Mahabharat neither any kind of animal killing. When Yudhishtir asked to Bhishma about welcoming a guest. Bhishma replied that “If you gifts him a cow, it will be a more prosperous gift for a guest”. In ancient time cow was most holy animal in India, it is considered as a prosperous animal because the milk it provides which is known as complete food in Hinduism, so if a person gifts a cow to someone then it was not meant to kill her and eat her meat, it was meant to keep her as pet animal and have a her milk in your daily life. Butcherer Zakir Naik said that cows were gifted to eat her meat, because his ignorant way of reading our holy scriptures. When it comes to decoding his misquoted claim that “There is no image of him” Lord Shri Krishna has already answered to his confusion in Gita. यो मा पश्यति सर्वत्र सर्वं च मयि पश्यति । तस्याहं प्रणश्यामि स च मे न प्रणश्यति ॥ (श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता 6.30) For those who see me everywhere and see all things in me, I am never lost, nor are they ever lost to me. यो यो या या तनु भक्तः श्रध्द्यार्चितुमिच्छति । तस्य तस्याचलां श्रध्दां तामेव विदधाम्यहम ॥ (श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता 7.21) Whatever celestial form a devotee seeks to worship with faith, I steady the faith of such a devotee in that form. Hence, Idol worship is not prohibited in Hinduism neither it is mandatory. Don’t listen or believe to bad preachers like Zakir Naik, he wants to create religious hatred. No one is going to stop Idol worshiping even if he manipulate vedic verses, neither Idol worshiping is wrong and it is not going to harm anyone if one practices the Idol worship. Remembering god’s form is witnessing absolute wisdom of the god, it is termed as Bhagvad Swaroop in Bhagvad Gita.
