@@sanjaydutta8318 HM is not closed. Its still there .. The company exists ...they are clearing their debts currently bcoz they faced financial constraints in last 2 decades. They can still make a comeback if they wish to do with ambassador ( mid size sedan ) , contessa ( premium padmini ) , trekker ( 6 seated SUV off roader like thar , gypsy ) , pushpak ( entry level 7 seater SUV like bolero , sumo ) & entry level , compact , mid size & premium hatchbacks , mid size SUV like safari Scorpio & compact 7 seater SUV like mahindta tuv 300 . believe me I have researched about HM,s plan recently the throughout the period of Amby & contessa , all plans were made to become one of the leading automobile companies but ultimately it didn't get implemented. They didn't try to improve & grow themselves in terms of product portfolio. For eg . mahindra ,s most reliable , cash cow model is bolero & they sell other range of SUV,s .for tata , its Sumo . for HM it could have been ambassador & contessa - simple mechanicals with improved interior , interior quality , fit finish quality etc .they could have sold well . anyways ambassador & contessa will always remain legends

I used Contessa during 1998-2001. It was Second Hand model with Isuzu 1800 cc engine diesel version. It has top speed of 135 kmh and qverage of 18 kmpl. But due to non availsbility of Starter in market, I have to sd it in scamrape. My wonderful experience and I love it most..i will never firget rgat super exlerience to hold and drive for nearly 3 years and drove 65000 kms during thst period and it constantly gave average o 18 kmpl on High way and 15 kmpl in normal conditions including urban roads also.
