IS HINGE DEAD??
In today’s video, I'm sharing why I think Hinge is dead and exploring what could be next for the world of dating apps. From the struggles of WFH culture to the lack of accountability in modern dating, we need a change. Could new platforms like Thursday be the answer? (No). But don't worry - there is a trend on the horizon ready to revolutionise dating.
Whether you're single or in a relationship, I'd love to hear your thoughts on 'how to meet someone' in a meaningful way!

Have never used dating apps and prefer meeting people in the real world and if it led to a relationship it did and if it didn't I wasn't that bothered because I don't really care if I land in a relationship or not. Another awesome video from the beautiful & gorgeous Nicole. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Nicole.

Honestly stay off them they're useless! Whilst I love being single one of my favourite things about it is going on dates and meeting new people and I just feel like my generation is losing the nerve to hit on strangers in public and just relying on these apps too much

As someone who's always struggled with real-life interactions and spent her teenage years making friends online, I really appreciated using dating apps to meet people. No confusion about why you're talking or your intentions. But I used to delete Hinge and re-install it periodically after it would piss me off. I did eventually meet my current boyfriend there and it was very clear from the first date that we just clicked. I think it can work for some. And it's worth noting we would have never met otherwise as we're from completely different circles and backgrounds. But I do think I just sort of lucked out 😅

That's so sweet! I love hearing different perspectives on this because I do appreciate I'm a very in-person, extrovert girly and maybe Hinge isn't dead, it might just not be for me! Oddly for someone that's online communicating with people for work, I'm awful at doing it in dating! Congrats on the boyfriend though, love that it's worked out for you!

oh 100%!! i've been on so many dates and you can tell instantly that the guy is looking for someone to wife or someone to hook up with. it doesn't matter if you're their dream girl, you can't be seen as more than a 'hook up' if you meet them at the wrong time. i've also had guys think we're the perfect match bc they're rushing to settle down when it's so clear we aren't.

I am not sure how I got so lucky that I met my now husband on Tinder 7 years ago. He was I think the 2nd or 3rd person a chatted with. He had great grammar, great conversation rizz, super involved and interested in what I had to say, respectful. With all that said, I do agree that meeting people in a more natural way, like during everyday life is better and easier because there’s just so much you can’t gauge online about the other, that you may not even be aware is not your thing or is your thing. How their lips move when they start laughing, oh my gosh their laugh, that can be polarising, their scent, their hands, nails, gait… all these are scanned in like the first 5 minutes of meeting someone but you could be giving it all away and investing in someone online who may ultimately end up not attractive to you.

I met my husband on RSVP way back when it was very taboo to be online dating (as opposed to being the norm now). We both had said this was going to be our last chance we are giving online dating because you have to sift through a lot of crap dates before finding a spark with someone. Thankfully, he was my one but i definitely think we are ready for a new approach. I think somewhere where you can sign up to an activity (e.g. surfing, bushwalking, painting, dance etc) and you can see all the profiles of people who will be attending. You turn up, interact with whoever you want to (avoid whoever you want to), are safe in a public venue and the pressure is taken away from a typucal "date" as you are also doing an activity that you both are interested in. It can be like speed dating where you put down who you would like to see again and if there is a match, you can get eachothers details, or you can just exchange them yourself if you know there is a spark with someone. This just seems so much better to me than what's currently out there!

It's so interesting how mainstream online dating has become since the start of the 2010s I guess? Weird to think it was ever taboo but I can remember how my aunty would talk about online dating back when I was growing up and it def had that stigma. Really hope we do manage to go to the hobby based meet ups! Or maybe my generation needs a kick up the bum about just asking people out when we see someone we like the look of IRL.

I met my husband on Tinder about 7.5 years ago, we chatted for a few weeks before we met up and think this built a foundation before we had a date. I know that it really doesn’t work for so many people and I think it’s great that social options are becoming the norm again 😁

I know so many friends who prefer this approach! I think I'm just so much more comfortable communicating in person that I never really feel like I'm giving my true self just through messaging. So I hate a long 'talking stage' before meeting!

Maybe this more for an older crowd lol but my Dad met his wife on a dating website in his mid 40s and they are so happily married and have been together for at least 6/7 years now. Maybe people are more sincere that way?

This is cute! I think the older, classic dating websites were less gamified if that makes sense? They seemed to focus more on meaningful connections and long-term compatibility rather than quick matches and instant gratification.
