Maintaining as much pressure as possible? That will crack the cutting wheels
@ReedPipeTools8 ай бұрын
Perhaps "as much pressure as practical" would be a better phrase. REED cutter wheels, though, especially in this 4-wheel configuration, are amazingly durable and high performance.

Ok . I tried Rigid A2 and as soon as I put a lot of pressure the wheel cracked

Do you want to talk it over with a product engineer? Can you tell us what wheel you were using? There's lettering / numbers on them, though the print is small.

Is there a way I can borrow on to see if will work in my application?

Sorry, but REED does not have a loan program for our tools. Sometimes, though, our distributors offer rental programs. Check the Where to Buy and ask your local supplier. www.reedmfgco.com/en/where-to-buy/

If we just demolishing; can they be used to cut polypropylene pipe?
@ReedPipeTools4 жыл бұрын
Hinged Cutters have wheels designed to cut steel, cast iron, or ductile iron. Cutter wheels for plastic pipe tend to be thinner than wheels for metal. If you do not already have a hinged cutter, you should look at REED’s PLAS cutters or large quick release tubing cutters for plastic pipe for your demolition job. www.reedmfgco.com/en/products/plastic-pipe-tools/quick-release-tubing-cutters-for-plastic-pipe/ www.reedmfgco.com/en/products/plastic-pipe-tools/plas-in-line-rotary-pipe-cutters/ If you proceed with your cut on PP, you should expect to need a new set of cutter wheels for the next time you use the Hinged Cutter

@@ReedPipeTools Thank you for your prompt response. I need to cut 4" Polypropylene pipe that is 0.45" thick. Do you have a tool for that?
@desmondorsinelli88504 жыл бұрын
Also, this 4" Aquatherm (a welded PP pipe) is under a floor in rather tight conditions; if you have something for tight conditions (one where we don't have to rotate the tool 360 degrees) that would be a big help. We were looking at your guillotine cutter.
@ReedPipeTools4 жыл бұрын
@@desmondorsinelli8850 For regular 4" PP application, REED recommends the TC4QP #04140 which ships with a cutter wheel designed for PE, PP and ABS. Check www.reedmfgco.com for Where to Buy options. www.reedmfgco.com/en/products/plastic-pipe-tools/quick-release-tubing-cutters-for-plastic-pipe/tc4qp/

@@desmondorsinelli8850 for the Aquatherm, REED has a special cutter wheel and that is in our TC5QPPR #01453. That TC5QPPR cutter, though, has to rotate around the pipe to cut it. The Guillotine Cutter works on PE and not PP. I would think it would be tough to use, due to its rectangle shape. Let me ask Sales if they have another idea.

Can this be used to shorten a metal pole that has already been installed vertically? (installed with concrete) Would it slip downwards, or can a 2nd person just hold it in place as you get started on the cut?
@ReedPipeTools4 жыл бұрын
@Steve Lewis Interesting question! Specifically for vertical cuts, REED offers a modified version with a 2nd handle. www.reedmfgco.com/en/products/cutters-and-cutter-wheels/hinged-cutters-with-helper-handles/ This model of hinged cutter works on well casing and other vertical pipe applications. If you have the clearance for the 2nd handle model, that might be just what you need. As for the regular model and vertical cuts, it should work as the wheels are quite tight against the pipe you cut. And, you tighten as you go, keeping the cutter secure to the work spot. Plus, the regular model can be used overhead and at other angles. If you have more particular questions about the application for vertical, please reach out to reedsales @ reedmfgco.com (removing the spaces.)

@@ReedPipeTools We ordered one and tried it (the one in the video; ordered before noticed your alternative recommendation). For a 2" galvanized steel metal fence post, this worked like a champ. Just had to hold the bulkier part over my shoulder for a brief moment getting aligned and started, then it held in place itself for the rest of the cut. Easy work, job took 15 minutes instead of all day digging a couple post back out. These posts hold a rod that secures a tarp, and we needed a steeper incline. Thanks, totally a keeper tool !
