@@skylerslack12 Yes, from the 1980 though. Today singing isn't filmed or anything anymore since it's an taboo, since all the songs are from WW2. They're all still sung but for safety reason not recorded etc., otherwise the units would get huge checks for nazis.

Some of the best fighters in the history of warfare yes(I lost two great uncles on Crete,the fallschirmjager said "we didn't know they would be there" referring to the Black Watch Scottish soldiers,one fallschirmjager officer said "they refused to surrender,we had to storm every individual position losing up to 20 men a time"),so I respect the fallschirmjager and have many books on them. But don't be fooled,they were involved in war crimes throughout the war. Hilariously when home gaurd,university cadet units and other mainly as hoc formations smashed the mass landing at the Hauge in 1940 the many hundreds of German fallschirmjager prisoners thought they would be free in days,when they found out they were to be marched into British ships for transport to first Britain then Canada less than a few hours before the government body at the Hauge surrendered they started yelling "this is against the rules,you will all be shot". No one was shot for it,they were handed to British custody in some cases 5 mins before the ceasefire.

Does someone know why this song mentions Narvik? As far as I know the only troops fighting in Narvik were Gebirgsjäger (mountain infantry) and navy. My grandfather was a Gebirgsjäger there. I never heard about Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers) serving in Narvik.

Okay so the initial battle of Narvik started with 2,000 Gebirgsjägers and German naval troops from their ships because the ships ran out out of fuel which would have brought the total number of German troops initially to 4,600 then 290 German soldiers from Sweden disguised as health care workers joined the battle, later in the battle 1,000 Fallschirmjägers from the 7th Air Division were dropped in to extra support so the entire German force at Narvik was 5,890 men.
