Tanya and I are about the same age, so when she exploded into my life through the country-western music radio stations at (both of our) age 14, my crush and envious admiration began, and didn't subside until a decade or more later. Thanks for bringing her back around.

Tanya has also raised more Hell than most. She released a new album just a couple of years ago. I haven't listened to the entire album, but I have heard a few of the songs. I thought the few that I did hear were very good and Tanya sounded great Still going strong after all these years. A fixture on the country scene for decades. Thanks for the reaction and thoughts. Top notch as always.

Listen to the way that woman’s voice filled up all of the outdoors! The only other female performer I could think of right off the bat who could do that would be Whitney Houston. Say, I just learned Bobby Borchers had a hand in writing this. Some of his late ‘70s recordings included Whispers, Cheap Perfume and Candlelight and one of my top (hundred) country songs ever, Sweet Fantasy which is on my mix right now. Very rich and warm voice. You should check him out when you get a chance. (LMAO…). In any case, Tanya proves herself as one of the greats every time you hear her.

Melanie (Safka) of “Lay Down” fame is another booming voice I never tire of hearing. This performance with the Edwin Hawkins Singers in The Netherlands is a great example. Even the stodgy audience of mostly older people who probably spoke little or no English was moved before it was over. It’s certainly not country music but some folk overtones, or born of folk, could be argued. What a song and version! kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4uYY5-hbtydkKs

@Minton Miller Your thoughts on the Farm Aid concerts?
@mintonmiller2 жыл бұрын
@@DjPjrocReacts911 When the concert were first being planned I think Willie had in mind it was going to be mostly country music. John Mellencamp and the band leaders of foreigner and other groups started calling Willie, asking can we be a part of this to? The thing about farm aid, is that I think it was misunderstood. You had a lot of good people trying to do something very good but we’re not really quite sure how to go about it. It had never been done before. Overall I think Farm aid was a good thing. There was some miss management there was some criticisms (some valid some not) but overall, I think it was a good thing. Certainly, many farmers thought so, because when Willie Nelson had his famous IRS troubles, it was the farmers who came in to bail him out. Every time someone tries to do something good there’s somebody there to throw stones at it. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode about selling muffin tops LOL.

I love Tanya Tucker. Farm aid I have huge beef with. They spend so much on talent there's not much left for charity. I've known many farmers with hardships and/or crushing debt, I've never, ever heard of farm aid helping any of them. It's a pretty big grift. It seemed like a pretty good idea but the money got in the way. Thank you for this. Best regards from Indiana.

That's, sadly, the reality of pretty much every non-profit. The organization might not legally show a profit, but the full time employees, especially the ones who put it together, pay themselves a handsome salary while upping their social capital. Why donate to charity A, when you can _found_ charity B, make yourself the CEO, and get rich while hobnobbing with presidents and celebrities?
@chazfu2 жыл бұрын
I believe it was Thomas Sowell who said, "every good cause, starts as a movement, turns into a business, and degenerates into a racket." Be very careful who you give your money to, if you really want it to make a difference.
@tonydelapa19112 жыл бұрын
Charity Navigator rates Farm Aid as 4.0 (Exceptional/Give With Confidence). It further claims that Farm Aid’s Program Expense Ratio is 89.4% (defined as: “This measure reflects the percent of its total expenses a charity spends on the programs and services it exists to deliver. “) Therefore, I would be shocked and stunned and deeply saddened if you are correct about spending so much on talent that they have little left to give.
