This was always one of my favorite ABBA songs.....love the music and the words, reminds me of someone that's just very handsome and charming with gorgeous blue/green eyes that you keep staring at.... I think it was more about someone she use to be in a relationship with in the past and now they're broken up and she sees him with someone else and it brings back memories of times they were together!

This song is really good .. Fantastic verse and chorus melodies, tinged with the warning of the message being delivered .. The whole of "Voulez-Vous" is fantastic .. just like all their albums .. Besides The Beatles, I think they delivered the highest consistency of quality in the songs they put on their albums .. There was no filler from ABBA .. Wayne

Thanks for the ABBA. You always have to keep in mind that Bjorn is writting the lyrics. It could easily have been "her eyes" instead. Just might have changed it cause the girls are singing it. But thats all part of the fun.

This is a good one. Like you said, another ABBA song that is bouncy, peppy, upbeat and happy sounding except for the lyrical content which as we all know those Nordic guys Benny and Bjorn were masters at wrapping up some pretty dark subjects in pretty packages with the contents sometimes being anything but LOL. That’s a big part of their genius IMO. I love the Voulez-Vous album, ABBA’s “disco” album. Every track could have been a hit single and quite a number of them were. You’ve reacted to some of them already such as my favorite track “As Good As New” and you also reacted to “Kisses of Fire”, “Chiquitita”, “Voulez-Vous”, “Does Your Mother Know”. I’d like to see you react to “Lovers (Live A Little Longer)” and “The King Has Lost His Crown”, but I’m pretty sure that most of the other commenters will be requesting you react to “If It Wasn’t For The Nights” which was originally going to be the lead single off the album until it was decided to go with “Chiquitita” because of the UNICEF concert ABBA performed at in January 1979 as part of “The International Year Of The Child” in which the artists donated the royalties to UNICEF from a song of their choice. So, it was decided that “Chiquitita” would be a more appropriate song rather than the originally planned “If Ot Wasn’t For The Nights” and that was a wise move since it turned out to be a huge hit and generated a huge amount of revenue and continues to generate revenue to this day. But, sadly that ended up relegating “If It Wasn’t For The Nights” to an album track rather than being a single which would have given the song huge exposure, promotion and lots of radio airplay that would have brought it to a much larger audience where many believe it would have been a big hit. There are many ABBA fans who have a strong attachment and love of the song and it’s understandable because it’s a real ABBA gem in every sense of the word. You’ll have many happy subscribers when you decide to react to it. There is a video version of the song from ABBA’s appearance in Japan which is pretty awesome and kind of humorous as well with some urban myths behind it, but, you should check it out and see for yourself and you’ll get lots of info from the family if ABBA fans who subscribe to your channel. Stay on your ABBA journey because there is still much much more you need to discover on your ABBA journey 😊

One reccomendation as I think you'll love the sound: Try my mama said by ABBA for some funk with a great baseline. A very different song. Piper is a song that feels very different by them also. hypnotic. Watch out is almost punk in it's rock. Another song to watch out for to use a pun!

Angeleyes" is a good disco-style song, within the disco-style album "Voulez Vous" (with the exception of the ballads "Chiquitita" and "I have a dream") that ABBA recorded following the influences of disco music in North America with Bee Gees succes It was together, with "Voulez Vous" as double A-side, the third single from said album, it reached # 3 in UK In this album I prefer other songs of that style, such as "As good as new" and "If it wasn't for the nights"

I think you are right about angel eyes usually associated with girls. It probably has no relation to this song. But Angeleyes is also the nick name of Clint Eastwoods charachter in the fantastic movie The Good the Bad and the Ugly. You should watch this movie if you havent. And Ennio Morricones soundtrack is the most legendary soundtrack ever.

The lyrics of ABBA’s “Angeleyes” is about a very good looking man who is very seductive. From the lyrics, this man’s main alluring quality is “his angel eyes”, which he uses to seduce women. Furthermore, he is portrayed as a player. In virtue of this, the female singers of ABBA (Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad) use this song for two primary purposes. One is to recount how they themselves fell for the man and “all the good times” they had while in a relationship with him. The other is to warn other women not to get captivated by his handsomeness. Indeed the song begins with them witnessing alll’ angeleyes moving with “a young girl” who they are convinced will suffer the same fate they have at his hands. The ABBA girls describe him as someone who basically uses women and then dumps them. So despite his undeniable attractiveness, any woman who falls in love with him will ultimately “pay the price”. Agnetha and Anni-Frid are therefore warning to every woman listening to be mindful of falling in love with this man. Anderson and Ulvaeus collaborated together in composing and producing this music. “Angeleyes” was recorded in 1978 and was released on 2nd July 1979 from ABBA’s 6th studio album, Voulez-Vous. The song is the 4th track on this album. Despite being written as “Angeleyes”, the title of this song can also be written as “Angel Eyes”. This song has appeared on several of the group’s compilation albums, some of which include: Greatest Hits Vol. 2. (in 1979), More ABBA Gold: More ABBA Hits (in 1993), Thank You for the Music (in 1994), The Definitive Collection (in 2001), and The Album (in 2008). “Angeleyes” is one of the most popular tracks of ABBA. Based on this, it has been covered by numerous musicians, including The Czars in 2006.
