Josh Tatofi is hard to categorize cause he is versatile. All I know is that he’s very soulful.

Very cool. Josh is also Tongan, like Iam. His father was a founding Memeber in a very popular local group, Kapena. You should check them out. Also, Josh is grammy nominated for his Hawaiian album, I think you would enjoy listening to and watching his Pua kiele video.

Mahalo, my guy, for exploring into island music. It's so heartwarming to see people outside being introduced to our local artists. Hawai'i has a mixture of music, artists, and vibe. There's HAWAIIAN music by OGs like Makaha Sons or the island reggae jams like Ekolu, Fiji, and Maoli and then there's other Polynesian artists from other states, like you mentioned, Spawnbreezie, Common Kings, Junior Maile, so much more. I LOVE Stan Walker from New Zealand. His story is WILD. He won Australian Idol, had stomach cancer, and is now singing without his stomach. His vocal range is AMAZING!!! His cover to Ultralight Beam just shows his range. Now Island Reggae, but the gift in his voice.

Great suggestions. Also Israel Kamakawiwo'ole for Hawaiian. Josh also has some beautiful songs in 'olelo Hawai'i like Lei Hala.

Right on bruddah FortWorth Fabian! Many thanks for recognizing various poly musical artist. Hawai'i fell in love with raggae in the 60s and 70s. It was the music of the beach and surfers! BUT, raggae or as Hawaiians coined it in the 80s, Jawaiian (Jamacan + Hawaiin = Jawaiian), EXPLODED in the 80's when the group called Kapena (Kelly DeLima and brothers Timo and Tiva Tatofi, who is the father of JOSH TATOFI) came out with an original titled "Tropical Lady" and especially with their cover of "Red Red Wine". EVERYBODY was playing the ukulele with that raggae beat! Their second CD was a bigger succes with "I'm Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Just One Look". Kapena gave birth to other great Jawaiian groups, notably "Hoaikane" (Check it..."54-46"). If you can get a hold of their first live CD, it will be in your car for a while. Another group that followed was The Manao Co. (Drop Baby Drop). Fiji also came out during this time (Check out the Warriors Chant...you call it "goose bumps", we call it "chicken skin"!). Keep in mind if you should KZbin these artist, lot of it was in the 80s, but many of those songs still hang around. But it is good to check the "root" of many of the Poly artists. KZbin vids I recommend: "Kapena: Never Gonna Give You Up" (With the Tatofi brothers), Massese remix (Hawaii party anthem!), The Kapena Kids - Lifetime (HiSessions.com Acoustic Live!) (this features JOSH TATOFI and cousin...shmooth). On the current seen, Fia - Love Me (Official Music Video), Likkle Jordee -Wha Dis Wha Dat. So many more of discovery for the world. We live the positive vibe. We live ALOHA! Take care and stay well brah!

This is Josh’s cover of the song Pualena by Vika. Not sure for how long but, Josh is also from Maui. He & my sister were friends back when he first started taking singing more seriously…..that feels so long ago….over a decade ago. I remember he played his very first song “I don’t need you” for us on the ukulele in our living room! Braddah’s voice is even more magical in person. I’m glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I also love his song Pua Kiele if you’re looking for Hawaiian music. He is so versatile - any genre he sings will sound amazing

Hawaii has a special category of musicians being born in the 70's the roots would begin with Genoa Keawe song Alika, then Hui ohana song Kalamaula, Darren Benitez song Mother of the sea, and then, Kamakakehau Fernandez any song but this boy is a gifted native hawaiisn singer and performer, and lastly Kamaha'o Thrones he sang and danced for the kamehameha song contest..now this is as cultural as you may get from my generation..

If you want to hear more of the beginning of Hawaiian reggae you'd have to go back to Hoikane "Romeo", Bradda Walter "Sweet lady of Waihole", Kapena "never gonna give you up", Peater moon "Cane Fire", Bradda Iz "Maui Hawaiian supa man" and many more If your looking for more deeper island reggae tone/Roots we always turn to Natural Vibes like "Okana Road", the Green "Alive" There are other atist, but can't think of them right now. Jawaiian includes most if not all the artist I've already mentioned above. Ekolu "Stuck on you", Three plus "Honey Baby. Mana'o Company "drop, baby, drop". Malino "never go astray" Hawaiian Country, Pond 4 Pound "Neon Moon". Kapena "Blue Darling," ka'au Crater boys "Carley Rose" Pacific island sound. Fiji "staying the night," Katchafire "dancing shoes" (i think is the name) J boog "let's do it again," Neasian Nine "you baby," Maoli "shoot down" and many more There are more like hawaiian rap, contemporary hawaiian, traditional Hawaiian. Too many to mention. Hope this clears what you want to look for.
