I apologise that I am having to upload this video in 3 parts but it is the only way I can get past copyright issues...
Today is the day I am officially dropping my first full album reaction on the channel. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon! If you are new to the channel then you may not know that Pink Floyd were the first band I started exploring when I decided to explore new music. As time went on I got caught in so many other rabbit holes but I thought it would be good to come back and revisit Pink Floyd. There are only 3 songs on this album that I have heard, the rest were all brand new to me. If there are any other albums like Dark Side Of The Moon that you would like me to listen to then please let me know in the comments. Also, If you'd like me to continue doing full album reactions I can make an effort to post at least one of these a week. Let me know!
Here is my reaction to hearing Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!
I NOW HAVE A PO BOX! ONCE A MONTH FROM NOW ON I WILL BE DOING AN UNBOXING VIDEO TO SHOWCASE ALL THE OF THE AMAZING THINGS YOU GUYS HAVE SENT ME. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND ANYTHING IN TO BE FEATURED ON A VIDEO, PLEASE SEND THINGS TO THE ADDRESS BELOW:

How can any guy with a pair of balls take Pink Floyd seriously? The squeaky voiced whispery singing, the laid back pacing, languid guitar, airy fairy lyrics and limp drumming. They're lullabies for stoned people. Furthermore their glamorization of drugs had led countless teenagers into the shady netherworlds of drugs and are one of the main reasons the Mexican cartels are doing big business. All the cartel killings are happening ultimately because boring whiny boomers and high school drop outs can smoke their dope to their boring soft rock band The Floyd. *Fuck Pink Floyd and their wussy druggy music for lazy losers*

I appreciate that unlike some reactors, you're careful not to talk over some of the greatest lyrics ever written. It drives me crazy when reactors make stupid comments when they should be listening. Thanks for respecting the artists and their music. 👍

You don’t understand how KZbin works. He has to interrupt the song in his video or he can get a copyright strike. That would mean he couldn’t use his channel for 90 days. It would also mean he wouldn’t get paid for his video. If he got 3 copyright strikes, he’d be banned from KZbin altogether. There are many more very complicated rules about this, but in essence, you can’t legally play someone else’s copyrighted song on your channel, uninterrupted, and make money from doing that without permission from the copyright holder. That’s why reactors interrupt the songs they are reacting to. I’m not even getting into Fair Use doctrine here. Yes, there are a few people who play whole copyrighted songs, but that means they’re taking a chance on getting a copyright strike, or they’ve had lawyers go to the copyright holders and ask for and pay for permission to use their material. Often these aren’t the writers of the songs, but the companies that own the publishing rights. This can get very expensive. If they sell the right to use a song, usually in a movie or an advertisement, it can be hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, and this guy isn’t going to do that with every song he plays. He’d need an army of lawyers and a billion dollars. And some copyright holders are going to say no if you don’t have those deep pockets. Another point. Some bands are okay with people using their copyrighted songs because they want/need publicity. Some older bands like to have their music still played to keep it in the public consciousness, so they will not claim a copyright violation. But most KZbinrs don’t want to take a chance. You don’t know who’s going to file a complaint and who isn’t. So stop complaining. He’s just protecting his channel. If you want to listen to the music uninterrupted, get it elsewhere.

@suzanneemerson2625 Did you even read my comment? I imagine your reply was even more clueless before you edited it. It should be obvious to anyone who read my comment that I wasn't complaining. I was praising him for not talking over the lyrics while the video was playing, which many reactors do. I didn't say anything about him stopping the video, which I already knew he has to do and have no problem with. The only thing that might save your lengthy reply from being a complete waste of time is that someday, you may actually see someone complain about what you were wrongly accusing me of complaining about, and then you can come back to your reply and copy and paste it, and maybe then it will actually be appropriate and not make you look so clueless.

You have quickly become one of my favorite reaction channels. While I am quite a bit older (longtime PF fan), it's nice to see a guy your age actually recognize and appreciate real music! This is why those of us from the classic rock age really have a hard time calling today's "music", music! We are spoiled. Back in our day, talent was a requirement! Keep up the good work! I've noticed since you started with Pink Floyd, your numbers have jumped. You have a few more albums to do, so I predict your numbers will keep going up!

That was all total original improvisation of her part. The band told her to just do whatever she felt and go for it. It's a shame she had to sue Pink Floyd to get credit and proper compensation for her contribution since she was only paid 30 Pounds, the equivalent of $75 US, for her much praised work on the album.

All of these Pink Floyd albums are top tier and worth a full listen! Pink Floyd tells stories with some of their entire albums. The songs are meant to be part of the overall story. Dark Side, The Wall, Animals, Division Bell, Meddle, Momentary Lapse of Reason, Wish You Were Here Their earlier stuff is experimental and weird but if you make it through al lof those albums go try Ummagumma. But you have to be REALLY high to enjoy most of it.

This, The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals, etc. they are cohesive stories, they have a linear story and system that can only be experienced truly in a single sitting, first to last, in order, and only in album form. You mentioned the vocals of Claire Torrey. Interesting story. She was hired to do guide vocals, which is pretty common. It's a placeholder that another singer will then cover for the final cut of the album. But she was so good, they used her copy. Funny part is they never told her. She didn't realize she was contributing to the album until she bought a copy in the record store and saw herself listed on the credits, and heard it. Catapulted her career. There's also another artist who isn't in the band... the album was mastered by the legendary Alan Parsons. This basically thrust him into the big leagues. He had helped on a Beatles album previous to this (in a minor capacity) and a few smaller projects, but this was the first BIG hit for him where he could take all the credit. And his contributions were so integral to the success, this album wouldn't be what it is without his efforts. The band actually struggled for a while to do this live and emulate some of his additions to the album. For a few years, the live versions just weren't as good without the mixing because the technology didn't exist to emulate that live. It did eventually catch up, and there have been great live shows since. Where this ranks is subjective. By most accounts, this is actually the #1 album ever. But the RIAA only counts "certified" sales, and it wasn't well-tracked back then, and they didn't track a lot of markets then that were tracked in later releases, skewing the numbers. So by the RIAA standards, this is only 15x Platinum (15 million sales, however, even the RIAA admits the certified sales are over 45 million, but de to changes they only credit the first 15 million sales... the game is rigged, lol) placing it #5 overall. Their album "The Wall" is actually triple-diamond certified, which is #3 ever, just behind Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and The Eagles "Greatest Hits". But if you look at non-certified sales, including Neilson radio metrics, "Dark Side of the Moon" would actually come in first place by a pretty big margin. Music consumers in large scale polls also consistently vote it #1. So when looking at sales number, you'll find all kinds of different rankings. The album is over 50 years old now, and the goal posts and methodology for tracking sales have changed many times over that duration. But ask any person in your audience, they will universally tell you this is the greatest album ever (unless they're smoking crack or shilling their own album, lol).

Bro. from the very very beginning I watched you get into grunge music I thought that you really needed to know where that grunge erie hard edge psychedelic sound came from. Pink Floyd is one of the main bands that influenced musicians, songwriters, and singers of the 90's especially this album, "Dark Side Of The Moon." The band is off the scales top tier music, almost psychedelic art music masterpieces. So, glad you are reacting to this legendary Rock band!!!

"I remember." Followed by a knowing smile, then a grimace as David gets the solo going. The perfect reaction, mate. My memory of first hearing this album is a bit hazy, it was 50 years ago and we were in a mate's lounge room with a massive sound system...and we'd just had a spliff. Played the whole album from start to finish then just sat there, minds blown.

Fantastic. This is the way to do Pink Floyd if you can't upload the full reaction in one video. React to the full album in one sitting and chop it into sections to appease the KZbin machine. I love to see this. If you do more Pink Floyd albums, this is how you should continue doing them. Especially for the albums Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, The Division Bell, and The Endless River. Not only are Gilmour's solos fire, it's him singing Breathe, the verses on Time, the harmony for the choruses on Time, all of Money, the verses on Us And Them, the chorus on Brain Damage, and chorus on Eclipse. Looking forward to the next ones!

Dude you have got to come to Canada as there are a few albums you have to experience at least once stoned out of your tree. The music becomes part of your soul and will never truly leave. This is one of the best introductions to being a psychonaut and yes it is a story being read to you through you and for you. Enjoy the ride and keep the rubber side down. Also anyone else thinks it might be time to introduce our MollyBoy to "Tommy" or is he ready for that?

I don't know if you noticed, but the end of Time is called the Breathe Reprise. It's the final verse of the 2nd song from the album, Breathe. Another reason why this album was meant to be listened to as a whole piece, and not just as individual songs.

Watching your face light up as you are reminded of your very first encounter with this track a few months ago for you, several decades ago for me is always a moment of "told you so" type of moments. The smile is a universal recognition that you are experiencing something that is more than just a track on an album, therefore it should be heard and enjoyed in that manner. The fact that you don't want to speak over the track is EXACTLY the thought process that is supposed to happen.

You want early British bands? Try: The Kinks: ‘Sunny Afternoon’ ‘Well respected man’ ‘Waterloo Sunset’ ‘Tired of waiting’ ‘Apeman’ ‘Lola’ ‘You really got me’ These are mostly mid-60s to 70s. They like to throw spanners in the works, with the lyrics, now and then. 73 in Northern California. And I’ll keep the 60s and 70s music. You can have the 80s and 90s music.

We had the black lights, posters everywhere. We would lay on the floor with ski goggles on, a box over our head with clear packing tape so we could see, and then hook up the pipe to a fish tank pump and flood the box with smoke, that's how you listen to pink Floyd 👌

Saw this performed live at knebworth. During the track ‘on the run’ there was a catenary wire down the whole field with a large model aircraft attached to it. On stage was a large screen showing ww11 dogfights in the sky. At the climax the model plane crashed into the screen with lots of lights and fireworks. Absolute magic.

Pretty hard to argue against this being the greatest album ever, although of course that's subjective. So glad you're doing the whole thing now so you can really get a feel for how the songs all flow together. "The Wall" is like that, too, and another great concept album that you would probably like is "Operation Mindcrime" by Queensryche.
