Yeah, I wouldn't have started him on this song. "Love you to Death" has perhaps the best vocals. "Angry Inch" is just fucking hilarious (every song they did was an inside joke, but some are more obvious than others). "Twelve Black Rainbows", lots of fun. "Halloween in Heaven".. a Tribute to Dimebag from Pantera (who was a fried of the band). To better appreciate this song, some context helps. This was largely a response to a critique of his vocals being "wrong" by critics and vocal coaches. "Don't end a phrase on a hard K"... Pete's response: "darKKKK" with auditable spittle on the end of the word. "Avoid 'R' sounds, they don't project well, lean into the vowel instead"... Pete's response, rolls his R's hard in the middle of a word. "That's off key"... add more dissonance with a organ, lol. The whole song here is a giant "F-You" to critics. MollyBoy would probably prefer the earlier stuff with Carnivore. A little more aggressive with some punk influence.

Rumor has it he's not dead... He faked his death once before, announcing it on their fansite as a hoax. Many believe the lyrics in the last couple albums allude to him stepping away from music, getting a sex change and living as a6'8" woman, lol. Of course that's total B.S., but the rumor is amusing, the lyrics kind of check out incidentally, if unintentionally, much like "Dark Side of the Rainbow". It's weird and absurd, just an unhinged rumor adding to the infamy, which I think is what Pete would have wanted, lol. That seems very aligned with his twisted sense of humor.

That "string sounding thing" is called a harpsichord. It's similar to a piano
@chefren773 күн бұрын
It looks similar but works (and obviously sounds) differently. A piano is a percussive instrument, with hammers striking the strings. Harpsichords have small plectra connected to the keys that pluck the strings instead. A piano therefore has a far bigger dynamic range than a harpsichord - you can play soft and loud with a piano in a way that's impossible with a harpsichord.
@doublewhat074 күн бұрын
Type O Negative is one of the OG Gothic Metal bands alongside Paradise Lost, Anathema, Sentenced, My Dying Bride, Tiamat, and Katatonia. All very late 80s and 90s. Most of these bands started out as death metal mixed with doom metal. Then, they experimented with female opera vocalist, symphony orchestra, and death metal. Theater of Tragedy, Therion Then these inspired pure gothic female bands like Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, and Within Temptation. Then you had the gothic symphonic bands like Nightwish and Epica. Which in turn inspires Evanescence. Typo O Negative pipeline to Evanescence is real. Peter Steele is American. He's singing the gothic style.

I’m sure someone had already said by now int he comments but the piano instrument you heard in the middle is a Harpsichord. An instrument that is older than a piano.
@KabukiKid4 күн бұрын
The "piano" you hear that sounds like strings is a harpsichord. Also a keyboard instrument. Instead of hammers that bang the strings, like a piano, a harpsichord plucks the strings and has a very different sound. And yeah, Peter Steele was crazy tall (6'8") so they have him here playing a stand-up bass as if it was a bass guitar... surely more as a spectacle than anything sensible. lol ;-) Peter is from New York, btw.

RIP Peter 💚 Type O Negative…musically, a cross between Black Sabbath, Misfits, Alice Cooper and Sister of Mercy. Visually/aesthetically, like The Munsters! 😂 Love em! ❤ Only got to see them live once. At Donington Monsters of Rock festival in 96. They played the second stage in the late afternoon for 45 minutes and managed to squeeze in 4 songs 😂 They had just released the album October Rust (still a favourite of mine). They finished their set with their cover of Sabbath’s Paranoid…and then Ozzy came on on the main stage right after them😂 Creepy, goth metal with a sense of humour. What more could you wish for? Ps. They’re from Brooklyn, New York. Hence the accent. The full length version of Black No1 on the album, Bloody Kisses, is about 11 minutes long btw. Check it out! Other suggestions… Wolf Moon My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend (maybe do that for St Valentine’s Day with Storm 😉😁) Everything Dies Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity (or the live version with the shorter, snappier title “I Know You’re F**king Someone Else” 😂) Also check out their cover of Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath but sung from the perspective of the devil (maybe do a two for one on that if you’re unfamiliar with the original. Listen to that first, then the Type O cover after) Keep the tunes coming, dude! Loving your channel and general vibe ❤❤
