Hey Alex, I discovered The Who at a production of “Tommy” about 25 yeas ago. I was in my mid fifties and was aware of the name but didn’t know anything about them. Then I found the movie version of the show which featured Elton John in “The Pinball Wizard”. Then I discovered that they were featured in the “CSI” series. That sent me on another discovery odyssey. By the way, it doesn’t surprise me that you weren’t aware of them. I’m 80+ and was very late to discover them. I really enjoyed your reactions to Queen, particularly “Under Pressure”. I listen to you because you are a knowledgeable young guy. I find keeping in touch with younger generations keeps young sand full of hope for the future. I have to grow old but don’t have to grow up. The Who is really a band that is best experienced in a live setting (especially since they really don't have true music videos). Guitarist Pete Townsend's punk energy, drummer Keith Moon's eccentric style and mugging, stoic bassist John Entwistle's elaborate bass runs, and out front, one of the proto-frontmen of the rock era, Roger Daltrey. Other songs to check out: My Generation, Pinball Wizard, Who Are You, Behind Blue Eyes, I Can See For Miles, Love Reign O'er Me, The Real Me, I Can't Explain, and so many more. Not me. I got my first Who records in high school, and my parents would have had me arrested and burned my music. Just hearing a Who song begin always helped me through the day of school and college. I saw them live in Greensboro right before Keith died. I don't remember who took me, but I remember the concert, and had a balcony seat right by the stage. John Entwistle looked at me and gave a big smile while I borrowed someone's binoculars. That look sent chills through me as he kept playing but appreciated the crowd. Pete has some awesome solo albums.

When I was young, I constantly had The Who in my 8-track tape deck LOL I know, I'm aging myself. But seriously, always been a big fan. My Generation, Pinball Wizard, Behind Blue Eyes (which Limp Bizkit did an OK remake of), Reign O'er Me, Won't Get Fooled Again, Who Are You are some of my favorites. Just about their whole catalog is great, though. Actually, one that I've always loved, which never gets any mention, is Guitar and Pen. Don't know why I love that song so much, but I do.You seriously need to check out some of their other stuff. Oh, and Reign O'er Me was used a lot on a commercial years ago, but I can't remember which one.

The Who's instruments are not weird. The thing is that they are actually playing instruments rather than making music electronically. They're not pushing buttons or clicking icons on a computer, they're actually making music the old fashioned way - by playing it. You think the song is weird, try listening to Frank Zappa. Zappa will challenge you.

You were not ready for Baba O'Riley! You need to warm up with a song you know "Who are You", or "My Generation" or "You Better You Bet". Try again- don't give up. Here's a link to a blast from the past. Watch it with your girl. You guys will get a kick out of it. Meatloaf "Paradise By The Dashboard Lights". #MeatLoaf #ParadiseByTheDashboardLight #Vevo

DUDE Whitechapel just dropped a freaking banger today “Hickory Creek” it’s fantastic in so many ways! It’s about 99% clean singing, deep lyrics and the instruments are on point. Had goosebumps the whole song. CHECK IT OUT!

I had this on a reel to reel tape in the 70s which enabled me to play it back at half speed. The intro is an upright acoustic piano played back at double speed. Played with one finger on each hand a la "Chopsticks" , it may be two interlocking parts dubbed together. I like how it starts with just that part, then the piano chords enter, then the drums, then the vocal and bass enter together and finally the guitar comes in after the first verse.

Probably the best weekend of my life was July 4th (extended) Weekend, 1989, Giants Stadium where The Who played 4 shows . I was able to get tickets to 3 of them. They played the album Tommy in its entirety and then like 15 or 20 other songs. It was incredible.

Watch *_The Who "Young man blues" Live on the Isle of Wight_* see the grand daddy of heavy metal! Their music is very eclectic, and were one third of the holly trinity that was the 60's Brit pop invasion into the USA.(Beatles, Stones, Who) Many firsts: synthesizers, feed back, power cords, bass leads etc, and a completely insane drummer! A hugely influential band. Chur.

This guy is entirely vapid. I switched off after less than 2 minutes. He is utterly devoid of talent, intelligence, or even the ability to hold his own thoughts for more than a few seconds. A prime example of shortened attention spans, the tragedy of American education, and the era of dumbing down.
