This looks awesome! I have been avoiding depron models because I can't get it affordably in small quantities anymore and don't have the space to store a bulk order but, at this rate, you are gonna make me order a big box and it will just stay out in the open leaning against a wall in my room.

That's indeed one of the problems in building with depron. I have also two big boxes standing somewhere around. There's no way out...

@@HilmarLange ok I actually did it and now am a proud owner of two big boxes of 3mm and 6mm depron. I also printed out the plans for the Hiperbipe and noticed a very small mistake. On the last page of the pdf file the square piece of plywood is labeled 3 mm whereas I believe it should be 4 mm. It is labeled 4 everywhere else. I think this is worth pointing out as it can cause some people buy the wrong materials. Even though 4mm plywood is correctly listed on the materials page, non-German speakers like me might have the tendency to rely on the drawings on the last page when they are shopping for wood. The design looks awesome and the plans are very easy to follow, thanks a lot for sharing!

Since this is a true to scale aircraft and the real thing has no floats, I will not design floats specifically for it. But you can certainly add some somehow. Hello Hilmar, I hope you are having a good day because it's me again with a bunch of questions... I am close to starting cutting out the pieces for the Hiperbipe, so I want to ask; Are the black outlines are a part of the real wooden or foam piece that is to be produced? Or am I supposed to position my blade so that the only the area withing the lines are left on the wood or foam? The measurements that I've made suggest the latter but I wanted to get your confirmation on this. Second, I will be cutting the vinyl stickers by hand so I downloaded the pdf file named ''Hiperbipe_Aufkleber-Anleitung'' from your website but, the chessboard patterns for the rudder seem to be missing. I also can't open the .studio files. Is there any way for you to provide the missing patterns in a common file format? Thanks a lot for the design, I can't wait to start putting my hiperbipe together. Aliberk

Hi Ali, you're right, the rudder chessboards are missing as a 1:1 scale drawing! My fault! But at least they are shown on page 3 of the instructions PDF. The preview on the left ("Hiperbipe_schwarz_Karomuster") contains top left: two elevator surfaces, then right next to it the two rudder surfaces. Perhaps you can scale these previews manually with a graphics software. Or you just count the chess boxes and scale that to your need. A chessboard is no rocket science. 😊 The .studio files are for Silhouette plotters only, I'm afraid. You can download it here: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software but without a plotter that doesn't make much sense. So just ignore the .studio files and try to get along with the instructions pdf. HAVE FUN!

Guten Tag Herr Lange Ich habe ihr Balsaholz-Modell „Phat Phil“ nachgebaut. Der Flieger hebt super ab, aber ist auf beiden Seiten sehr instabil. Ein paar Sekunden nach dem Start hat er sich manchmal bis zu 90 Grad seitlich gedreht und ist dann leider abgestürzt. Den Schwerpunkt habe ich eigentlich geprüft und der Wind war auch sehr schwach. Falls Sie irgendwelche Tipps haben, wäre ich froh wenn Sie sie mit mir teilen würden. Ansonsten finde ich Ihre anderen Flieger mega cool und finde es toll, dass sie die Baupläne teilen. Oha, diesen Kommentar scheine ich gute 10 Monate übersehen zu haben. Aber eine gute Frage verlangt nach einer guten Antwort, egal wieviel Zeit dazwischen verstreicht. Phat Phil fliegt aufgrund der Knick-Ohren leicht überstabil, das heißt er reagiert nach einer Rudereingabe so, dass er sofort wieder in die Normalfluglage zurückkehren will. Am Besten fliegt er sich, wenn man sehr geringe Ausschläge verwendet und diese für die Dauer des gewünschten Flugzustandes stehen lässt. Also Seitenruder ganz leicht halten während der Kurve. Zum Ausleiten ist kein Gegenruder erforderlich, weil das Modell von selbst wieder geradeaus will. Dabei immer mit dem Höhenruder die Flughöhe und Flugbahn konstant halten, versteht sich. Es könnte also an zu starken Ausschlägen gelegen haben, möglicherweise in Kombination mit einem hecklastigen Setup? Oder zu langsame Fluggeschwindigkeit? Phat Phil möchte durchaus ewas Fahrt haben. Fliegt man ihn zu langsam, dann wackelt er mit den Flügeln. Grundsätzlich ist es sehr hilfreich wenn man einen geruhsamen Flugstil pflegt und eher weiträumig steuert. Kleine Modelle verleiten oft dazu, sie auf engem Raum fliegen zu wollen. Aber je mehr Platz man ihnen zugesteht, desto einfacher sind sie zu fliegen. Äußere Einflüsse vom Wind sind natürlich ebenfalls ein Kriterium. Die ersten Flüge sollten auf alle Fälle bei Windstille erfolgen, damit man die Reaktionen des Fliegers in Ruhe kennen lernen kann. @@HilmarLange guten Morgen Ich muss zugeben, dass ich den Flieger im Rahmen eines Schulprojekts gebaut habe = limitiertes Budget. Ich habe mir eine "billige Funke" gekauft, ohne viele Einstellmöglichkeiten. Ich liess auch mal einen Profi-Piloten fliegen, und er meinte es läge am Expo, welches man nicht eintellen konnte. Kleinste Bewegungen am Stick würden viel zu viel Bewegung verursachen... Aber ich werde es im Sommer sicher wieder Probieren. In deinen Videos hat das Fliegen so leicht und stabil ausgesehen ;) Liebe Grüsse
