Everyone's talking about their aesthetic but digging deep into the song, it's depressing. It's actually about the feeling about being trapped and having noone to connect with because of the fear of just bringing people down and thinking that you're just using them ("serving myself") when you truly are in need of help. Upon realizing this, the song has grown on me. It's what I feel deep inside and not so much bands can do this.

Thank you! People who listen to musicians because of how they look are god damn depressing. I'm here for the lyrics and melodies, appearance be damned. But I also wanted to add that I've always interpreted the "serving myself" as meaning that he's only hurting himself. It used to be a common meaning that "to be served" meant to be trashed. I.E. "You just got served!" I think it matches up with the previous line of "ruled by the vibe I'm bringing". He's the one at fault for ruining his life.

Maybe posting about the meaning of songs is a little 2011 but I really love how that, at least to me, the song and music video speak to mental health rough patches in our lives. Such as feeling guilty for putting ones friends through your struggles and the visuals of the video showing how hard it is to do simple tasks like getting a drink of water or taking out the trash. But eventually we all get through.

When I get deeply depressed, nothing satisfies me, not even music. This song and so much of their music however is THE exception. I don't know that i've ever heard a song so relatable and perfect in every way. I may sound really cheesy here, but everytime I listen to this song, it truly saves my life just a little. It's been an incredibly tough year for me and the first time I heard Bambi, I smiled for the first time in months. I still turn to your music for comfort regularly and I'm happy to say i'm doing better. Not great but better and thanks to you, that's okay with me. I'm still living and I find myself smiling now. Best of all, I don't seem to feel so alone and that was something I desperately needed. Your music has helped me become positively introspective about my own well being so much more than anything else could and you have truly saved my life. I know the guys probably won't see this, but from the bottom of my heart and anyone else's who can relate, thank you so much. I know I rambled, but still, there are no words to properly convey my gratitude.💙

This song means a whole lot to me, I found it about a year or two ago and I always listen to it when I’m sad or I would listen to it on my way to school. This song makes me feel such a sense of happiness and sadness at the same time, when I first heard the song I didn’t know the definitive meaning but in a way I felt it, which sounds weird but I could relate to the song and the lyrics. I respectfully disagree. The indie guitar setup was why I was such a huge fan of this band (still am but ya know) and as soon as they try to appeal to a broader audience and throw in synthetic kazoo noises and removing a full crash drum set solely for a snare is what completely turns me off from wanting to hear more. It isn’t quite the sell-out pop yet that usually happens when a band starts gaining tons of traction but the only thing “Hippo Campus” anymore is his beautiful voice. Hell I couldn’t even find a bass riff in this. Im just a little disappointed in the direction it’s going but that’s only my opinion. If they’re making money it doesn’t much matter what I have to say

I keep finding myself listen to this song. I found this song a year ago, November of 2019. School back then has been stressing me out so this song would be soothing. Here I am in October 2020, feeling the same stress but in college, balancing work. I had many breakdowns because of this overwhelming depression that I created within me. I felt like a burden to my friends every time I vented to my friends and I simply felt like giving up sometimes. Though every time I listen to this song, it reminds me that I'm doing my best, I'm struggling for a bit but it will be over soon, and things will get better eventually. I never thought I would relate to a song-- I've seen so many people saying it in a few songs I've listened to, but I guess I finally found a song that shows me that I'm not alone. Thank you for making this wonderful song.

I remember the first time I encountered with this song was when i was calling with my crush for the first time, it was around midnight, we were both still shy & we talked about random things. So everytime i hear this, it always remind me of that sweet moment we both had.
