Great workmanship 👍. Nice looking bus, the owner should love it 😊 edit: came back to look at it yet again 👀

Thanks for the comment @TheDasbull. They certainly do, and have been using it as much as possible. Including a road trip into France and back already.

I think that was a hippie bus. "Nothing left to do but smile smile smile" is a Grateful Dead lyric (yeah, I caught that. Anyone else?). And hippies had that weird spirituality... combined with blotter acid... it makes for some heady stuff. Makes ya wonder if it was ever in the USA hitting the Dead shows at one time. Had I purchased that particular bus, I would've kept it as an artifact. (Fixing the mechanical stuff only) Still, what a suburb job you've done with her! Nice! She def has a new lease on life. What a beauty! I'm struggling with a 1975 salvage bus...as I stare at the windscreen on my kitchen table and struggle with the big rubbery seal "from Europe" even, I realize it will not attain that pristine glory of showroom quality, no. Not even close. But I'm happy enough fixing her "mechanicals" to a higher state of safety. Start, steer, stop as best she can as we beat feet to the forest and desert of the southwest. On to "people who grumble about what other people do with their bus" topic. My guess? They probably never zinged their knuckles across a sharp edge while adjusting their valves. Or had to repair every rusty pin hole in the window frames of a complete junker. Or rewire a dash because some foul parts seeker stripped everything away. Or chisel out a dry rotted seal while going super slow and praying ya don't break that original glass. All because yer willing to spend more money than the thing is worth just to see it work correctly and breathe new life into a tired old soul. It's not about making it "over-priced". It's about making it right. To suit your needs/desires. So, I think you responded correctly.

Very nice job. I also put aluminum heat shield under the apron. I haven't seen anyone else do it so it was cool to see yours. I also covered the entire exhaust with rockwool tape and then aluminum. Keeps the heat in and runs quieter. I also used copper piping for my vacuum line to the brake servo. Rubber vacuum lines always leak. I also modified the headlights and signal and brake lights with brighter multiple LEDs. I added LED lighting that comes on when you open the engine lid. But I did something I've never seen before. I modified the rear hatch door so it can be opened and closed from the inside. That's because mine is a camper and I sleep there.

Kaum zu glauben, was Ihr aus der Hippy-Karre gemacht habt, eine Wahnsinnsarbeit und diese Perfektion, Hut ab!

Really nice bus. So wonderful work, all detail and everything!!! Did you need to shortened the axles? Bay window axles are longer, aren't they?
@kustomrevival9 ай бұрын
Hi VWBuslife. Thanks for the kind feedback. Nope, we didn't need to do anything with the axles, just standard Bay ones. We did fit larger CV flanges to the bug gearbox though, so that it can run the larger bus Cv joints on inner and outer.

Great. It went from a good karma iconic bus with a message (1:18), to an over valued specimen that only snobby rich people can afford, out of reach of most of us "normal folks". Nice job 👍

Do you ever come across a duel cab bus, I don’t care if it’s split window of a single front window.?
@kustomrevival5 ай бұрын
Hi Mike. Yeah they are around. We actually have a RHD baywindow crewcab as our shop truck. 😎
