Actually, keeping fish or crayfish in a rice paddy isn't a bad idea. Helps kill pests that harm the rice and provides a secondary food/crop from the same space.

@@xaladlovesgames2986 They catch them or move as many as possible to another body of water when they drain it. Had a co-workers son in Louisiana who operated a crawfish/rice farm this way.

I know Japanese are obsessed with rice, but wheat is more nutritious and yields more in the same space, requires less manual labor and can be grown in harsher soil and enviornments. It kinda gets in the way of "building civilization" aspect of these types of animes. Still a fun watch tho

... completely skipped milling the rice? Rice starts off with a hard brown shell around the white part. And its a pain to remove the bran so you get white rice.

Then simply DON’T remove the bran, and eat it as brown rice; that not only saves you time and work, but also doubles the nutritional value.
