Hired To Take Out Monster Invasive Iguanas At Public Golf Course. As people might already know Florida is under attack by invasive iguanas. They're everywhere down here. Today, I was hired by a public golf course to take out as many iguanas as I can. Today, I was able to get 3 monster iguanas out of here along with some Egyptian geese.

Wow, I can't believe the coloration on those iguanas! You're out there picking them off, and in the northern States, some kid is shelling out a lot of money for one of those. I'm glad to know that you recycle them into something useful. Dogs do love having a job to do. I wish you all the best, coffee break well spent. Thanks.

There is a school of thought that views this as nature just taking its course. New species come in, outcompete the native species, and then we have a new normal. The ecosystem will eventually balance itself. Like with the Panda, if it can't sustain its own existence, then let it die. 99% of all species to ever exist have gone extinct. That is just the brutal way of nature. You may argue that without human involvement these species would never have come here. That is mostly true, but people forget that humans are a part of nature, just like everything else. Termites build mounds, and humans build skyscrapers. Also, horses were once an invasive species in the Americas, now they're a staple of North America. All that said, I'm not saying I am a believer in that line of argument, because I don't know enough about the effects these invasive species have, but I am saying that I can understand the reasoning behind it.

You should call Animal Control instead of hunting these poor creatures down. They did not ask to be released once they were attacked they thought that would be with their owner forever. Some people need to be a little more humane. Anybody that releases a species like that needs to be find Big Time, Define needs to be so big that when the word gets around they'll think twice. Suggestion any creature that is sold to the public needs to have a chip in it, just like we do with domestic pets such as dogs oh, so if they are released they can be identify from whom purchased it on what date and so forth, and that person needs to be arrested and fined, with a very large amount of money. I guarantee they will never do it again. Do not blame the species for being released they're only doing what they need to do to survive. PS. Anybody selling these creatures or any creature for that matter, needs to be held accountable as well and receive a big fine. Just like they do with weapons guns. It needs to be a National Registry.
@MrAwesomeSaucem
@MrAwesomeSaucem 2 жыл бұрын
@@americanspirit8932 He is effectively dispatching an invasive species that has all but destroyed the native Florida ecosystem. In fact, this kind of work actually saves a lot more animal lives than it harms. If you're so against "selling any creature" I think this stuff should be your last concern...maybe you should be more upset about factory farming etc.
@MJScoutArchMar

@@americanspirit8932 Having a national registery for firearms would be the precursor fora confiscation. @FarmerFpv
@FarmerFpv 2 жыл бұрын
@@americanspirit8932 I'm sorry but Iguanas don't have the same consciousness as humans do. They don't know what an owner is. Animal control would be much harsher than a pellet gun. Most of the time they catch them and beat them with a bat. Your emotions are getting in the way of logical thinking. If you live in a home, own a car, or a cellphone all three of those products kill thousands of animals every year because of habitat destruction. So unless you live in a cave you should worry about your own wrongdoings. Mike is doing the right thing. He is dispatching them as humanly as possible. I'm not sure how you think your food gets to your plate. If you grocery shop you do know that they kill many pests on the farms to protect your food, do they not count? Everything about you is all hypocritical bullsh*t. Also, do you really think they came from the legal animal trade? Most of these evasive came into the country illegally or accidentally by cargo ship. Grow up, the world ain't all peaches and creams. Go do your part. You're fine with telling people what to do but I 100% guarantee you don't do a damn thing to preserve wildlife as hunters do. Your way of thinking is very immature. You're overly emotional which is unhealthy too. Iguanas are not dogs. They have no value to us as dogs do that's why we domesticated them. We have a connection with dogs. Everything about you is hypocritical.

That species you mentioned. I believe you called it a "Karen". You must remember when trying to penetrate the skull with the "common sense" projectile that the skull plate is very thick ! Sometimes even with many doses of commom sense one just cannot seem to penetrate that thick skull. Some find it more effective to just get away from the "Karen" as quickly as possible. This is necessary to preserve your hearing from the loud screeching that these creatures broadcast. Good luck !!!

What I was glad to hear as well is that you make things from their hides. It is a pity they have to die but at least it will not be wasted. Much like in one of the channels I watch, he gets invasive pythons to feed to his king cobras. As a Floridian, glad to see these guys gone and at least point to some use.

Isn't the whole climate problem a case of humans knocking things out of balance? It is the same thing here. Species that are not native become invasive and unbalance the normal state of the ecosphere. It is humans disposing of "pets" improperly because governments have allowed them to be sold here that created the problem. Do not get mad at the hunter who works to restore balance. Get mad at the irresponsible people who created the problem.

@snapon, selling tools doesn't suck! But I'm sure he does well for himself. He gets the contract from the golf course and you know he gets a good penny for that. But he only gets that every so often I'm sure. says he's only done it twice. However, after every day of work he's got another day of work cleaning those animals. And that's where he's making his money

I'm surprised that there isn't some way to get the local wildlife used to eating these invasives. Get them to the local gators or something, help them see that if it's one of these, it's a free meal. Also, so it's easier on Otto, there are some doggy ramps out there that'll allow him to get into vehicles. Less stress on his joints for better retrievals on his part. Oh, and what other Iguana controls do is call the cops ahead of time, local office or something, to let them know what you're doing, where you're doing it, and how long you'll be at it. Helps curb the Karens a bit.

They’re trying that with lion fish. Trying to get shark and grouper to eat them. Not sure about the success on that. That’s a big part of the problem with invasives. They find a niche without predators. And then breed like crazy. There are plenty of invasives that don’t present a problem because they do get eaten. But you’re right, a lot of potential predators shy away as they don’t recognize the invasives as potential prey.
