Yo MAFs are important as hell. Should be part of the standard air filter and sparks change. Throttle body cleaning is no big thing either, just pop the hose, spritz it with the right cleaner and give it a wipe! Keep uploading man, I appreciate your vids.

Judging by the analytics of how-to videos vs my vlogs that are more personal, I’d argue that people typically come for free information and don’t give a crap about me or the things I like. If you could see the analytics on some of my videos, people immediately click away if the video starts with a shot of my talking face. That’s a broad statement, of course. I’m sure that there are plenty of subscribers that genuinely enjoy my personality, and I appreciate being able to communicate with them.

Man this is perfect as I need to do this! Can I ask, did you use a rag to clean out the throttle body or just spray it out? I’ve heard some horror stories about touching the butterfly valve messing up your idle on these as they are electronic. Another Q if that’s ok :p Do you have to apply quite a lot of force to get the accessory belt tensioner to move on these cars? I couldn’t fit my ratchet on it with the space like you did so had to use a spanner and just couldn’t get it to move. I think it might if I pop a jack handle over that spanner but it’ll be sketchy.
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
I popped the butterfly open by hand to spray fluid on the back side and nothing bad happened. I’m told that the throttle body automatically regulates itself. There is no IAC valve or anything like that. Judging by my experience, I’d say it’s fine to touch with your hands.
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
As far as the belt tensioner, you need a good bit of leverage to move it enough to release the belt. If you’re worried about breaking it or something when you say sketchy, I wouldn’t be. They seem to be constructed pretty strongly, and for good reason!

Good vids, mate. My Ol'boy has a 2009, Mazda 2, 1.4 diesel. What's the best scan tool (within reasonable budget) for the Mazda, do you think? I only have a wee Creader 319, I think that does basic engine codes. I'm looking for a scan tool that is abs, srs and dpf capable that would suit this Mazda and perhaps earn me a few quid. My Mazda 2 has a really bad idle, I've been told that the egr might need replacing, but that's a expensive part so have avoided this. I've had the motor mount swapped, cleaned the maf, egr and throttle body but no good. What rpm does it idle at, mine floats around 500. So annoying, and I can't even be certain a new egr will fix it.
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
I believe that the correct idle speed is 700rpm. Could be 750. You could try removing and cleaning your existing EGR valve. I used to have a Protege5 and it had an idle issue that was cured by cleaning the EGR valve. 👍🏻
