Performance wise I think it is a downgrade because it will heat soak fast. Using the same MAF housing and new tubes to move the air filter behind the driver's fog light would be much better. An other option is using something like a BMC CDA with a hose from the front gril for cold air feed.

@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I appreciate the support! The tube being hot is just naturally what happens. It’s hot in the engine bay and metal absorbs heat. It’s normal. Heat isn’t good for power, which is why I said I could wrap the tube in heat shield material to keep it cooler. That’s all.

@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
I’ve never even heard of someone else in the 2 community using nitrous, so I’m sure there is limited or no knowledge about using it for our cars. Plus, there’s nowhere to refill nitrous bottles near me anyway. I think it would be too much of a hassle to be worth doing.

Hey man, big fan here. Great job on another video! Your channel has been a great help to my family and me as we daily a 2013 Mazda 2 and since there's so little content about our car online you've been a very valuable resource to us. So our little silver rocket is nearing 75k miles and I was wondering if there's anything I should change or keep an eye out for at this mileage? At our next oil change I plan on changing the spark plugs, replacing the PCV valve and air filter, as well as cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor. Our car currently runs great but I try not to neglect anything so if there's anything you think I left out I'd love to hear your suggestions. Oh, and should I keep an eye out for carbon buildup in the engine? Thanks man!
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’m glad to be of some help! All of those maintenance jobs sound spot on! The PCV valve might be a little unnecessary at that mileage, but it’s not like it’ll hurt to change. Our green car is nearing 110k miles and has never had it changed. The 2 is really simple to take care of. Just follow the intervals in the owner’s manual and replace/clean any other small things that might need it and they’ll run forever. 👍🏻
@emptyhead30076 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! By the way, do you know what the spark plug torque spec is for the 2? I researched everywhere and couldn't find a solid answer. I think it's safe to say the engine block is aluminum and not cast iron at least.

@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
An air intake isn’t a permanent modification, so it has no real effect on the car’s resale value. Not that Mazda2s are particularly valuable or highly sought after. Haha There’s a link in the video description to their website, and yes, they ship internationally.
@jigglerish6 жыл бұрын
I would really recommend getting orange virus tune for the 2. I thought it was much more worth it than the cs intake I got
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
How much do they cost? I definitely want to get a tune done one of these days. I wasn’t really hoping for a power increase with the intake alone, but with a tune it will be far more beneficial.
@kylemurphy64676 жыл бұрын
The tunes are pretty pricey with OVT. However, they seem very convenient as they are E-Tunes. Only downside is that you need a wide open space to do WOT runs for logging. A tune through Dynotronics is marginally less expensive, though you have to ship them your ECU. Both require a Tactrix OpenPort Cable for logging and tuning purposes. Samsies with E-Tuning. I'd suggest get a hold of a HotPipes Header and tune once and be done with it. Andres had huge success in AutoX with the Header and a OVT tune, said it transformed the car. Estimated 120bhp, that's more than enough to move these cars.
@jigglerish6 жыл бұрын
Kyle Murphy I started off with dynotronics and after a year of almost nothing and issues I emailed ov and paid the extra and within three days we started tuning. The price is more for using ov but I would highly recommend paying the difference

@arsalaankhawaja59396 жыл бұрын
Is there a reason why you chose the DDM Works SRI vs the Corksport SRI?

Because it’s virtually identical to the CorkSport intake and costs less. Additionally, DDM Works is a small(er) business that supports the Mazda2 community, whereas CorkSport has pretty much abandoned the platform.
@arsalaankhawaja59396 жыл бұрын
HiroshimaSpirit what's your take on cold air intakes? I've been debating on whether I should go with a short ram or cold air. Also if you were to choose from AEM and Injen is there one you would prefer?
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
You honestly won’t notice a difference between the two. The SRI is so popular because you get the same effect, it costs less, and it dresses up the engine bay. A cold air intake puts the filter way down behind the bumper cover, so it’s more complicated to install and also at a higher risk of sucking in water if you drive through some that’s deep enough. I personally recommend the SRI.

HiroshimaSpirit I cleaned my MAF sensor and everything, I made sure to disconnect my battery for 30mins and everything, Auto Zone says its the MAF sensor thats messed up BUT the car is running fine, it was running rough at first but after driving around seems like the computer learned it was taking in more air but still have that Check Engine Light

HiroshimaSpirit how can I check for Vaccun leaks?
@HiroshimaSpirit5 жыл бұрын
If the code is saying MAF sensor, then that’s probably the issue. Maybe try cleaning it again and be sure that it’s completely secured. It’s of course facing the right way, I assume? If the problem persists you might have just had some rotten luck and need to replace it. I’m not sure what else to look for or do. Which intake are you using?
@iamchrisgates1805 жыл бұрын
HiroshimaSpirit Im using a K&N Filter with custom piping, everything is secured, MAF and everything, all clamps are sealed tight, only thing I can think of is a vaccum leak, but how would I determine exactly where thats at? Also it could be the MAF itself, when I disconnect the battery and reconnect it, check engine light goes away

Hot air intake !! The only cold air intake is the way the car was designed . nothing but fluff
@HiroshimaSpirit6 жыл бұрын
Nobody claimed that this is a cold air intake, but ok. Intake temperature isn’t the only thing that plays into changing how an engine creates power, but since you mentioned it, this intake was pulling in air at about the same temperature as the stock intake. Feel free to check out my videos about converting this into a cold air intake. The car now pulls air that is within ten degrees of ambient, well below what the stock or short ram intakes did.

hello friend, another question. But if I mount this cone filter and drive normal, consumption is always higher than normal? or are consumption the same as those of the original air box?
@HiroshimaSpirit3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you drive the car. With the aftermarket intake, you will be tempted to use more throttle more often, so consumption may vary. 😉
