I’ve found that watching the show demands a certain amount of attention due to the fact that so much is subtitled. It prevents me from scrolling thru my phone and I love that it demands some discipline from the viewer. Now when a new episode is out every Tuesday, I get comfy, put the kettle on and have a black tea while I watch it . I’d like to read the book, but at 1100 pages I won’t be able to keep up with the episodes. It’s an amazing series so far and I’m here on KZbin looking up Cosmo Jarvis clips to find more about him. Absolutely killing it as John Blackthorne

I like how they capture the quality of the book character of Blackthorne, a survivor who's essentially being buffeted around by the winds of a world he doesn't control, making desperate gamble after gamble to narrowly avoid death. Always finding ways to make himself useful enough to be kept alive. He's not like the cliched 'Tom Cruise in Last Samurai' thing where he winds up becoming the Best Samurai of All somehow, he's a guy who's been around the world and knows how to pick up languages quickly, and he really doesn't want to die.
