Funny, that's what my generation said about the 80s. But to be real, those two decades were the last of what was an incredible time for anime - where studios could literally say 'screw it, our budget is huge!' and do literally anything. More unique and original shows came out in those twenty years than anything that's come out since, with perhaps the exception of the first ten years of the 2000s. After 2010 everything just...wasn't the same.

There are people here that seem to feel bad because they realize we're starting to show our age all the sudden. Don't feel so bad, everyone. Once upon a time, we looked up to our betters - those that had come before us and helped pave the way for us, guiding us into these wondrous fandoms. And now, here we are. We are the elders, now. And it is up to us to help guide our younger ones as we were once guided ourselves. Don't be sad. Yes, much time has passed. But we still remember these things almost like it was yesterday. Take joy in that fact, and share these beautiful gems of our past with the new generation, so they too can know their magnificence.

Hiru no Tsuki-“Daytime Moon” English Lyrics: One soundless mid-day, the wind was so cheerful. Flower petals sway in the breeze as if they were sleepy. This serene feeling... Tell me, what's the word people use for it? Tell me a story that's locked away in the white-sand moon. Let me hear it as gently as light shining down.... Will the time come? When you will know the pain in my heart? Then you'd be able to be gentler than you are now. Such a warm feeling... Tell me, what's the name that people give to it? Softly, let me hear of the distant future, so bright it can't be seen, like a white-sand moon.

Hearing this after so long takes me back to a better time. I was in high school during the birth of the 2000's. Portable CD players, Windows XP, and AIM was my tech world back then. Adult Swim back in its day had some good classics such as Outlaw Star, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin the 3rd, Big O, Ghost In The Shell, Trigun, Wolf's Rain, and many more. I can remember setting my VCR to record those late school night shows, only finding it hard to sleep, and watching them anyway. Teachers always wondered why most of us came in tired the next morning. Though the tapes have long since been lost for many reasons, the memories of those days are still with me. Thanks for posting this! Back in "the day," when this song would come on, it was so spiritually moving and entrancing. I loved it then and so glad to hear it now!

So many memories come rushing back. Such an overwhelming sense of peace from this song. I use to listen to this almost every night as a kid.

I enjoy the pictures on this one -- especially the "array," like most other arrays.

I know I heard this in an anime some years ago but can't place it. It's powerful & emotional and reminiscent to a time when things were slightly better.

Akino Arai has a singing voice like a gentle breeze, it caresses and relaxes you. To this day if there is an anime where she does the opening or ending I will watch that show just to hear her...

I have been looking for this song for so long since watching the anime years ago. I just found Outlaw Star on Hulu and immediately started watching it. Feeling so much nostalgia and happy that I found this song. The artwork at the end is so beautiful too 💜

I watched Outlaw Star in Toonami in the last 90s, along with Cowboy Bebop. But, someway, speaking about space opera anime, Outkaw is my true favorite... And this beautifully sad song has a lot do with it... Still a masterpiece. Even sadder in post-enclosement days.

This melody and her voice move me so very much. The violin is drawing me in. Her voice so pure and centered but so wanting.

Do I remember anything about the plot of Outlaw Star? No. Do I remember every note of this song? Absolutely.

It's been soo long,so many days, so many nights, and yet, even with all that has passed, and all that is yet to come, we still move forward, though happy times, sad times, good and bad,yin and yang we still move forward.

Hoenstly .. Still one of the pretties outros. Also still find it neat even if its unrelated art. So great art. It really made it feel like the world had other things going on . world as in outlaw star universe. Which i guess is true, as there are a few other related things

I was enjoying this anime so much but just got lazy and stopped at 15 episodes. One day I will return and watch the entire thing. Looking forward to it

This song...takes me back to that golden Toonami / Adult swim lineup in the 90's. Hearing this for the first time was just mind blowing & has so much meaning looking back now. Thank you for this!
