The UNSC shows its irrelevancy. Any of the permanent 5 could honour India having a permanent seat and a veto, but they do not. If need be, any of the 5 could allow India to set at their desk, and veto when India wants a veto, but they don't do it. India should make it a condition of doing business with France and Germany. Russia only wants stuff from India that it won't give. It would be a smart move by Russia to honour an Indian seat and veto with a veto of its own, but it won't do it. Russia has the most nuclear weapons, but it is by far the weakest country of the permanent 5. More veto members just weaken Russian authority further.

India supports India - glad to hear that. Across the world, and in parts of the English language media in India, people demand that India support one side or the other. At the moment, a ceasefire is the victory that Russia craves. An extra square metre of territory is a victory for Russia. If Russia loses the south and Crimea, but holds extra territory in the Donetsk region - that is a victory for Russia as Russia defines it. Russia has captured enough land to operate Donetsk airport. It has not captured the Advika coke factory, but the Ukrainian steel industry in the east is largely gone forever. Russia has captured the Crimea-Dniper canal so can supply water to Crimea. India takes a principled position that the killing must stop, but in most conflicts a ceasefire is defeat for one party. In WWI, Russia agreed to a ceasefire and remake of its empire as its capacity to wage war collapsed. A year later, France, UK and US, forced Germany to ceasefire that was little better than total defeat. Rather than call for the ceasefire that Russia desperately seeks, India should just wash its hands of war in Europe, and ignore trade sanctions except those that involve transferring goods and software from other countries to Russia and others on the banned list otherwise India would suffer the same bans.

It is in China's interest to stop poking India on the border and agree a border based on agreed principles. But China won't do that. China needs it land and sea forces heavily armed and at high readiness for battle and India and Taiwan a conflicts that allow China to build military capacity. The great humiliation for China is the Russian expansion from the Urals to the Pacific since the time of Peter the Great to well into the 20th century. Signing treaties in the 19th century that formally gave land to Russia are just symbols of the humiliation. Thus, the primary goal of the Chinese military build-up is to be ready when opportunities arise to recover land from the former soviet empire. Russia is very short water in its North and West. Russia and Central Asia have water to spare but send none to China. When conditions are right for a Chinese intervention into a failing Russia, China will invade Central Asia, Mongolia, Eastern Russia and probably North Korea. China can more than double its land area and capture lots of water and mineral resources. By invading North Korea, China gains a bargaining chip with the west for rapid normalisation of relations with the West. China could give the southern third of North Korea to the South - this third has half the population. China could allow the other half of North Koreans to move to the Republic. Indeed, China could deport them to the south to allow its people to occupy the northern two-thirds. The new border between China and Korea would be in a mountainous area and of little risk of democracy spilling over the border. We would surely see high speed trains (Maglev most likely) running between Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo, by they carry little democracy carryover risk.

Interesting but seems a bit fanciful. Where are the signs of Chinese expansionism? Border scuffles with India where they hit each other with sticks hardly prepares them for war and the extreme other end of that would be invading Taiwan which would likely be very damaging and wouldn't set them in good stead to invade North Korea (which has a huge army and nuclear weapons very close to large Chinese population centres). They probably buy most of the natural resources from NK anyway on favourable terms so no need to invade. Plus they were a hugely powerful neighbour for 1000s of years and haven't taken over yet - why start now? Doubt that would make relations with the west rosy either post a messy taiwan invasion where at the very least sanctions would be imposed and potentially the US would join the war. Tunnel from Busan to Japanese mainland would be cool but likely wouldn't happen shortly after huge wars with Taiwan and North Korea.

“Merely condemning the conflict doesn’t stop the conflict “, whoa, a profound statement alright! And why would india rub Russia in the wrong way when India & Russia have enjoyed decades of camaraderie & friendship? Any country, in the circumstances, would surely act to ensure her safety, viability & continuity! Stop poking India, She won’t relent!

@Play Google of course, I will make sure he faces the law!!! As for political manoeuvres, anything goes in this dog eat dog world! There’s no one right answer/move. It’s to do with who’s got more clout, economic power etc etc. It’s never black or white!

@Play Google I see now. That happens everyday. America, and therefore, Europe have been supporting brutal dictatorships around the world. China has been prosecuting their Muslim population. Also, Ukraine is not Russia's wife either. What I really wanted to say is that there is a difference between the moralities of nations and that of individuals. These analogies are not useful.

Not a single tough question posed. Eg Why does India consider nuclear arms and space technology more important than providing the citiizenry with potable water?

If you actually read news rather than the gossip which the British tabloids publish about India. You would be aware about the fact that Modi formed an entire ministry to oversee this.

Bcz it is important for the purpose of national security. Western countries for too much and too long have supported terrorist entities which are threat to peace and security. Being in arms race is a compulsion , not a choice for us. As far as water is concerned, the too are being addressed. These problems are not solved in a bang but take gradual time. Not even UK can say every home all basic necessities.

🤣🤣 Why Ask now question on Nuclear Power, India became Nuclear state in 1998. And when you are attacked by your neighbours 5 times and now they have nuclear weapons, What you expect from India? And salt on your wounds India also has Nuclear Powered Ballistic Submarine fopr delivery of this weapons. And talking about Space Program, I don't know your Education qualification but if you knew, "How Space can be Useful for a development of a Country?", you woundn't have asked this qustion. And by the way India Launched 36 Satellites by its LMV3 launch vehicle for UK company where this discussion going on and earned 137 Million dollars. And UK still can't launch its own satellite and this host guy gonna ask why India has Space program?

Do more research rather than looking everything from a particular point of view. It is a necessary issue for the security and saftey of a country or there will be outside interference. Britain can start with de nuclearisation if it is so concerned
